Very curious what the "identity" improvements are going to be. I hope this is the first whispers of being able to transcend your civ in some way.

Very glad that the changes being introduced are all optional modes, but I wish the options were more granular. I've never found the abrupt changes too glaring. Keeping ships and merchants is nice, but I was always fine with units zipping back...

If Dur-Sharrukin and Emile Bell are associated with Assyria and Silla, that all but confirms Tonga and the Goths at some point, which is good news! Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

Tonga was spotted in a datamine, so they were in development at some point.

Its military/national flag was believed to be a crescent moon according to historical records. Also, its main palace was constructed on a crescent moon shaped hill, perhaps the inspiration for the flag?

I see the other icons are an image of Assur, a Vietnamese dragon (not sure if it’s a specific image) and the Lion and Sun used on Iranian flags

I believe the Silla moon references Cheomseongdae, Seondeok's observatory.

I’d love to actually see them and maybe have a gimmick where they start in the distant isles chains and can only settle those but can explore farther (hilariously unbalanced maybe?) so we have a proper island civ, and it would be nice for Hawaii to transition to

It was not fixed. They slightly modified an existing art asset to make Revenge visually distinct from other ships, but they didn't actually add a model for Revenge that looks anything at all like the actual ship.
That's exactly what I said. It's not very historically accurate, but distinctive.

Fixed poorly = Fixed
(but could be improved more)
Maybe we're talking about different things.

It's "fixed" in the sense that the model is visually different and can be identified in the game.

It's not "fixed" in that we paid for a unique model and didn't get one.

The Grand Bazaar is either the one in Istanbul or Teheran. Probably the Qajar wonder and the latter. On the other hand, there would have been an obvious other wonder for Qajars to pick. So maybe it‘s the one in Istanbul and it‘s just a strange coincidence.
The wonders are part of an 'Asian Wonders' pack, which would be purchaseable seperately (like CotW's natural wonders) and aren't associated at all w the civs

Golestan would be best for Qajars
We will find out once the new dlc comes out (as long as the part 2 stuff appears in the files like last time)

I am happy to see the second Indian leader - who is
1) Still not Gandhi :)
2) Shiny warrior queen Lakshmibai - exact opposite to the "spiritual, nerdy, physically weak Indian man" stereotype :p She was also on my list of dream leaders to see in the next civ game

Similarly, I am happy to see the Islamic Persia - though it's kinda hilarious that Qajar get into the game, of all Iranian dynasties, while ruling over arguably one the most miserable periods of the Persian history :p (of semi-colonial impotence, provincialism, lack of industry, poverty and failures to combat backwardness :p )
But oh well, it's hard to find 1789-1945 powerful Middle Eastern/North African civ... Ottomans definitely belong to the later medieval and early modern eras, with the long 19th century being their own miserable period of decline, and I don't have many other ideas. Maybe Muhammad Ali's Egypt could arrive instead, though arguably it also wasn't exactly the beacon of industrialization.

So it's fixed and unique, then. How else would you call a model that is "visually different and can be identified in the game" and is tied exclusively to GB's unit with unique gameplay properties?

One can call it malicious compliance by FXS if they still don't like the updated model, but they have technically fulfilled their promise.

I feel like no matter which era they put the Ottomans in, the decision will be divisive. Put into Exploration, and they lose a solid endgame option for the Islamic world, along with a notable figure in WW1 (notably, the Ottomans have lasted for longer than Qing, who are currently slotted into Modern). Put into Modern, and we will lose their rivalry with Byzantium...

I guess it's another example how the rigid age system leads to some awkward outcomes.

The only thing in here I'm a little on the fence about is being able to carry settlers over across the age transition. Not sure if I like that as it seems like that's likely to become the optimal strategy going forward - train (or buy) as many settlers as you can in the lead up to the end of the age. Plus it's not like cities have a ton of options of things to build at the start of the age anyways. I need to see how this one plays out.

Also, I like that we can bring ships across from antiquity to exploration now... but how many do we get? There kind of has to be a limit. Aksum isn't the only civ that will benefit from this, either - Carthage will also be a fan.
I don't know.... on the flip side I like the idea of getting a head start on distant lands which would make getting the economic legacy path easier.

I'm confused....... they said buildings full base yields and maintenance would transfer now but no adjacencies or special effects.... isn't that what was happening already? What am I missing here?

Genghis and Assyria are so close to us! The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is the cherry on top!! Custom commanders for leaders is such a clever concept. Could Alexander get Pyrrhus? After all, he was his cousin and one of the most famous and talented generals of antiquity, or Alexander could get the spot while his father Philip II leads this time. Parmenion is another good option for Alexander. How about Hannibal as a unique commander for Hamilcar? Very interesting idea!!!

I actually hope it’s the bazaar in Istanbul, so that the Qajars can get the Golestan.
I've noticed that Golestan is in fact featured in the Qajar background art (notice the window shape and pattern, the roof, the pool...). Whether that means that it is included as a wonder or not is uncertain (though I'd be very happy if it is), but we can be sure that it is included at least in this form :P
