Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

modern Australia can be skipped entirely, to be honest :) If you want Aussie representation, just add an Australian leader as DLC and that's good enough. Same deal with Canada.
This bet is quite a bit premature, a couple months ahead probably, but, if I were to make a judgment based on what I'm seeing now...I'm betting Canada is in base game. Just to get it out of the way and make room for more interesting DLC. ;)

Wha? Among the base 10 civs? That seems unlikely, given we know 6/10 and have good guesses (and major options) for the rest.
Hehehehe. 🤫 I'm not going to go into depth explaining things, I think it kind of spoils the fun of a guessing game. I have my reasons.

Oh also:

FINAL BETS TODAY/TONIGHT LOVES IF YOU WANNA GET A PREDICTION IN BEFORE A LIKELY REVEAL TOMORROW!

NO PRESSURE, JUST A FRIENDLY NOTICE THAT IT'S MONDAY SOMEWHERE!

NO WRONG ANSWERS, NO REAL STAKES, JUST SOME GOOD FUN!

Civ:
Persia
Cultural-Expansionist
+1 Movement on all units
Unique Garden UI for culture and happiness
Archer replacement UU that is better at defending against melee
Unique trader that grants gold when passing by a resource/city

Starting bias: rough
Too many ideas for the civics & traditions.

Bahahah *yawn*. I am at least looking forward to seeing her full detail model. I think we started out on a bad foot with Augustus; the leader design is cohering much better for me after the last two reveals, and I think she may turn out okay.

Yes, you are right. I'm actually also curious how she'll look with full graphics. The *yawn* was also not meant condescending towards her specifically. More a general sentiment how I'm not that interested in the leader reveals and how I think we'll see a leader we already "know" vs. a civ of which we haven't seen much yet.

For tomorrow, I'll lock in Mississippi and... Persia. I'd prefer it with an adjective, but perhaps they'll add one once relevant DLC arrives.

By the way, a reminder: We know two civs will be revealed this week, but not the exact day nor if it will be both together or on different days. Considering having 2 civs reveal this week already breaks the usual pattern, we can't even be much sure the exact days of the reveal.

did I miss something?

No we can't! I'm trying to at least do some sort of review on Tuesdays, but people are welcome make new predictions, change predictions, whatever throughout the week, and we can do additional check-ins as needed.

I figure this much notice may not even be the usual: they might drop things whenever they want without posting to Steam.

!!!

Well today is Indigenous People’s Day in America, so maaaaybe Mississippi today?
Ah, you're right. Then I'll also add Mississippi to my guess, since I already had Persia. Actually, today would be the perfect day to reveal them.

500 points to everyone here for predicting the drop today!

If they want a female Persian:

Atossa - on the left the suspected bronze portrait head, on the right the (rather bland) reconstruction done in modern Iran, I believe.
Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother to four Persian Achaemenid monarchs from Cyrus the Great to Artaxerxes. If Katie de'Medici can make it in, Atossa certainly can . . .

I got totally wrapped up in other things and forgot it was Indigenous Peoples' Day! Of course the Mississippians were likely to happen today! Congrats to @Evolena, @Nic@Melbourne, @uppi , @moysturfurmer, and @Alexander's Hetaroi! Let me know if I missed anyone. :)

Let's welcome Mississippians and Monk's Mound to the game!

I will opt for 2 Civs and 1 Leader next week:

Mississippian
Ashoka
Persia
(or whatever their name)

(I may be influenced by the recent Steam actuality ^^)

Mississippian and Goths

Mississippian and a guide for an Exploration era civ which has already been confirmed. I pick Normans for the latter.

Interesting observation, but they combined the civ and wonder clip this time. I'm curious if that was a special case for the Mississippians or if we will see that happening more regularly with civ reveals.

I added this to the first post in this thread, but after tomorrow and going forward if people change their predictions about remaining reveals for that week (i.e., anything that you think will come before the next Monday/Tuesday reveal), please quote your last predictions. It will make cross-checking final bets much easier. Thanks!

I would hope this thread encourages people to change answers as they encounter new evidence, think new hypotheses through, etc. No one should feel locked into any calls if new data/ideas cause them to change their mind. Good empiricism and rational thought encourages updating models with the evidence/theories, and I think that should be encouraged, even in banal gambling. :)
