Civ3 and real-life

I dont see how you could do it with a game like Civ. I did do it with a fantasy baseball league I was a part of once. In my league, Mike Piazza was traded to the Tigers. A news article came on the TV talking about Piazza and it showed him in a Mets uniform. I actually thought "when did the Tigers trade Piazza?" before I smacked myself in the head :)

i was walking outside of my apartment complex and there were two tires laying on the ground, one leaning up on the other, and i immediately thought "alright, rubber!"

all right then. im sure that rubber is use full but looking at tires and thinking of a strat. resource is just wrong. but on the other hand, seeing gems on the ground and thinking "now my people will be happy" is completely normal. you need to see a Civ3 Shrink, dude.

I vote the Chinese #1 by 2050 AD.....they've stood the test of time. #1 Pop. today
Today, yes, but by 2050 according to predictions of current trends in population growth China's population will be declining and Inda will have surpassed the Chinese in population, and still be continuing a trend of upward population growth. (you can get this information on the US Gov. census website) And don't forget about Bollywood! :goodjob: And if we are playing by game rules... the Mongolians conquered China so they're out. :D

Okay. I want to know, RIGHT NOW, which of you :crazyeye: people bought Need For Speed Underground 2, and I want to know where you drive and at what time of the day, so I can stay the hell away from you. :)

(If you'd seen the way I drive in NFSU1, you'd understand my concern here....)

I had an awful day yesterday. My domestic advisor won't speak to me due to me spending too much gold on luxuries. I decided to research "Flower buying," which gave me access to the Interflora great wonder (the effects are "reduce spouse weariness").

This didn't quite resolve the situation, so as I'd saved my game of life at 8am yesterday, I reloaded the saved game and played again, remembering to reduce the luxury spending this time. It'd be great if life was that easy, wouldn't it ;) ?

You need rubber to upgrade all your riflemen. You can't expect :spear: to happen all the time.

I played for 41 hours solid with only a large packet of peanut M&M's and a 4 pack of red bull to keep me going :D. Large map, domination victory playing as India and stabbed in the back by allies .... I eventually lost... It was an epic, almost spiritual experience!

If you drank all the Red Bull you now have 4 aluminum to trade... I suggest you stick 3 of them under your chair, or Xerxes will see them and demand one as tribute...

Every now and then if I play a game right before I go to bed half way through the night I'll be in a semi awake state while my brain attempts to play the game without the computer. My most frustrating happings in Civ III happened like that mainly because I wasn't actually playing the game. :crazyeye:

i recons the atlantisians would have it....

After playing a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic, I ocassionally wondered why I could not just "town portal" myself instead of sitting in the traffic...
I started laughing today when my girlfriend said that she was content: I wanted to suggest wine to make her happier...

The problem is when we learned that the Egiptians built the Great Pyramids, I almost shouted: "No, the Germans built it! I can bring a screenshot!"

I wake up from dreams thinking about how many turns it will take me to accomplish something. :D

Latley ive been haveing the problem taht i see a blue sky with some clouds and the first i think of is the Windows Background immage.

And one time my Grandmother told me one day she had turned on her TV and it was black with only sounds, and my first tought was that she didnt have the right codec......

I think that Speed 2 for N64 saved my life once. I was driving in early one morning and a Jacka** in a long gravel truck started coming into my lane and the concrete median was on the other side of me. My first reaction would be to step on it and get ahead of him, but I went into the "zone" that I learned to get into while playing Speed. Assessing the situation I realized that there was a bump out about 200 feet ahead that I would have slammed into at 70mph. It was very surreal and slow motion-ish, I hit the brakes (and the horn) he came about a half and inch from hitting me with his huge rear tire. Scared the crap out of me and amazed me at the same time.

When I got around him he gave me the finger. So I went into GTA mode and.......

Which country is Koffi Annan from? I guess that Civ won the UN Elections :)
But I think "nature" didnt had the UN victory condition on. Nor Domination, Spaceship, Culture, or what so ever, so the only option is that the world ends on 2050... :/

I believe Kofi is from South Africa. Actually Norway would have won first- they had the first UN Sec Gen.

I find it hard to believe people would have long flashbacks back to civ when it is such a unique atmosphere from from real life. Unlike Need for Speed, we can not go into flashbacks of civ because we are not ruling a civ. Its the format of the game that creates an artifial feeling. That being said, it can produce a more analytical, more quantitative way of thinking. In that sense, it does make sense and has even occurred to me.
