Civ3 Complete not installing on Vista

Hi!

I bought Civ3 ages ago and played it a lot, but then my computer died and I had to reinstall everything. When I've tried installing Civ3 it always comes up with the same error.

Error 1305.Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests\Art\Units\Ancient Cavalry\HCavalryFidget.wav. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

So what should I do?

Buy a new Civ3 Complete game and try again.

Does the error occur when playing or when installing? Are you sure whatever crashed your computer the first time is fixed?

You could try installing in a different folder as shown in the video link in my sig, for example C:\Users\Public\Games\Civ3 . Assuming your hard drive and install media aren't bad this is your best bet for success.

As a hack you might try copying any other wav file and renaming it to HCavalryFidget.wav and replacing that file with it. The effect is you'll change the fidget sound for ancient cavs.
