This is a typical progression. Every successful game goes through these consolidations and price reductions. This time next year I wouldn't be surprised to see Civ3:complete for $25 and then later $20 and then bundled in a laptop strategy game pack with a couple of other games for $20 and then as a disk only on the bargain games shelf at Best Buy for $10.
If you are willing to wait a few years for your games you can get most of them for under $20 dollars. Of course, you missed out on playing them for the past few years. For me, life is too short to wait for stuff I want...
I think this is basically the last and final patch for Civ3, that will perhaps still get an update because they still mixed something up.
Basically, Civ3+PtW+C3C, final patch version, in one package.
i like the idea, and I hate it. I have already paid for expansions, German and US versions, I feel... hey, there is actually no reason for ME to buy this...
Obviously, some corporate folks came up with the bright idea to appeal to those who have not played civ 3 b4 by giving them $60 worth of games in one package for half the price while ripping off loyal customers who paid $100 total for every game and expansion packs.
as warpstorm said, this is normal procedure, because software is not like wine; the older a software is, the more outdated it becomes and so its price drops accordingly.
i don't feel cheated at all, i wanted to have the game when it was released, i bought it and i had a great deal of fun throughout these last years, so i'm satisfied.
(ok, i felt ripped off when they released Conquests and it came with Play the World, argh!)
