Civ4 Complete Edition Coming Next Tuesday

I love Take2's marketing strategy - they sell
Civilization IV Complete - that does not include Colonization and now they want to confuse their american customers by announcing
Civilization IV: The Complete Edition which does include Colonization and is the same as
Civilization 4 Ultimate - which has been released without announcements in Europe (at least Germany and Switzerland ) a month ago...

Edit: I do applaud the no-DRM thing though - if that bears out and means they got rid of safedisk I'll likely buy it even though its an expensive Colonization for me...

Complete (no colonization ) has shown up a lot in US users in the Tech support subforum here - so it certainly manages to come over here... Especially since Amazon and others sell it in the US - so it certainly is not Europe only

Spoiler As for me :

yes changing continents every few years does tend to come with shopping worldwide I am very happy that my European Civ4 and Warlords work fine with my US bought BtS - that sadly has not been true for some other games by other companies that shall not be named - so there Take2 has won quite some points

That guy who sells that European complete edition for $69.97 on Amazon.com has made some good money, considering people could buy Civ4 + BTS separately for $40 total. He's been doing that for at least 2 months...

E3 is next month (6/2 - 6/4)... perhaps we will hear something from Firaxis at that time, whether it's Civ5 or Civ MMORPG.

I'll die a little bit inside if the next game is a Civ MMORPG instead of Civ 5.

Well, Sid has said a few times that a Civ MMORPG is an interesting idea.

But Firaxis could be working on multiple projects simultaneously. They do have a lot more developers these days.

Civ5 is inevitable since Civ4 has been selling well, even 3.5 years after its release, it's still getting listed in top 15 selling games of the month from time to time.

It's a fancy word for copy protection stuff that forces you to put CD into the drive in order to play the game.

Um, it's copy protection, but good DRM actually has the advantage of possibly not requiring the CD/DVD in the drive. But most of them still seem to require that... If you think of Spore, one of the advantages they listed for their DRM and internet authentication is that you don't need to have the CD in the drive.. wooooaaaaooow....

Whoa... no DRM? I'd love that!

I doubt Firaxis is going to display something at the E3, only because I've been disappointed so many times there.

MMORPG could easily work out... it'd be like online games except with more people. Also, as long as they keep the system requirements in a reasonable range, the games could still run fast. This is because I think Civ V will take advantage of new features in computers (like the quad processor).

Can someone confirm something here? When they say "DRM-free" are they referring to being able to play this without the CD in the drive or are they just stating that it doesn't required terrible internet based DRM like Spore and Steam games?

I am just trying to figure out if by purchasing this edition of the game you somehow free yourself from having to carry around the CD in your CD drive. Because, that would be nice incentive for re-purchasing this game.
