Civ4 sound problems and fixes

The new rev B patch killed all of my sound except ambient and music. I had sound in the previous version. This is frustrating. I have a PowerMac G5 1.8ghz on 10.4.8. Anyone else have this problem with the patch?

I also have the exact same problem, but the patch represents such a marked improvement in almost every other way (performance, no more popping sounds), that I am by and large pleased with it. :goodjob:

I wonder if you're seeing an improvement in performance because the processor is not having to process the (now non-existant) sounds?

I Applied the revision b patch as soon as it came out but haven't even fired up the game once since then, so I can't really say if it affected my install negatively or not...

Civ IV Vanilla: With the Rev A patch I had full sounds apart from the odd fact that the music wouldn't play unless I specified a custom music directory I had also never experienced a crash. With the Rev B patch I get no battle sounds, no Leonard Nemoy and the game just hung so hard that I couldn't switch apps (I could still login via ssh).

I can now connect to Gamespy, but I don't really want to anyway ;)

System Specs: PowerMac Quad G5 2GB RAM, OS X 10.4.8 (fully up-to-date on all software updates).

Where should I be reporting this? presumably not here.

Where can I get the Rev A patch from, so that I can downgrade?

You should report it to Aspyr Support.

I believe the Rev A patch is available at 3D Downloads. There's a beta version here. If you can't find it, PM me. I never throw anything away that might be useful in future :p
