CivBe Tech Web

Thanks for pointing that out, it's been updated now. (CTRL-F5 to clear cache and see the changes.)

Aeson, Is that CTRL-F5 command specific to one browser? I ask because it sure nuked Firefox, but good. I re-started the session OK but had to kill the app after it locked up.

Didn't crash the PC but Firefox definitely went nuts afterwards. Its fine now though and the preview Tech web is glorious.

It looks like Geothermal isn't used much, so we can sell most of them.
Or at all, actually. There are exactly four wonders that need it, with a total cost of 15 geothermal. And those wonders aren't even very good.

Geothermal does have one benefit over the other strategic resources if I recall though, it increases the base yield of the tile by two energy without improvement. All the others need improvement first.

Still a disappointment to not have it be more useful.

yes and it makes tectonic scanner less sexy. :(

It still feels creepy that ressources disappear when I settle on them. I feel very forced to get the techs that unveil titanium and petroleum before expanding.

lucky you, chemistry is core( laboratory and recycler) and engineering is not bad too. (jeep + thorium reactor )

Exactly. Still, it kinda forces you to take those techs first when REXing (+ the tech that unlocks colonists in the first place ofc). And you still might erase geothermal (which again isn't that important).

It's not too bad, but an unnecessary change to the worse from Civ5.

It works the same for me in Firefox and Chrome. Not sure why it would lock up a session. Might be a plugin issue?

I might be wrong about this, but doesn't geothermal tend to show up near canyons? That might give you a clue about where to be careful not to settle early(and we'll be less likely to settle around canyons, anyway, given they are like mountains--impassable and unusable.)

Good point!

You can atleast create new ones with one of the satellits however that will be rather late game.
Luckly however the 3 most important strategic resources are allways visible + some petroleum will be in the ocean which we cant settle.

This post deserves a thank you.
It will even remain useful after release! (Although it will become outdated by patches.)

I think it is a change for the better. The AI coding will NEVER settle on a resource, as it wants to improve the resource.... a city settling on the resource should not give you the resource, as you can never improve it...
