CivDip XVI: Clash of the Titans

I never said it was dead or ended. I said the game is called for Austria, meaning I feel confident that Austria will win.

There is no real grounds for thinking that, but were good grounds to think that Turkey/Russia are dead and Germany too.

Then it shall once again will get interesting.

And here I thought I was in deep dookie for being late with mine...

I apreciate the work you have put in here Dread.Sorry if i broke two nations in one year making them not really want to play with me anymore.

I'm sorry, I forgot the deadline (reminders and such, like most GMs provide, would be helpful, but of course it is my own responsibility before anyone elses), but I haven't been idle. I keep trying to get in touch with Turkey, but to no avail. Honestly (and obviously), if I can't coordinate moves with Turkey, any moves I could send in would be as of much worth as an NMR. I'll send them in now anyway, but without international cooperation they're practically no better than an NMR.

Retreats: Notta!

Builds:

Austria: Supp 8 Unit 6 Build 1
England: Supp 5 Unit 6 Remove 1
France: Supp 7 Unit 6 Build 1
Germany: Supp 3 Unit 4 Remove 1
Italy: Supp 5 Unit 5 Build 0
Russia: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Turkey: Supp 2 Unit 3 Remove 1

Russia did gain much this turn, which is better than a NMR.
Hardly. 'Twould have been something had Austria not called my bluff. I was pinning my hopes on Austria assuming I would cover Moscow, and therefore not bothering until he could support himself in. A reckless gamble, but really all I had left. Would have been quite cool had it worked.

BTW Builds due this upcoming Saturday, which is Oct. 8.

Germany/Turkey in CD, both are reasonably dead. Disbanded A Ruhr and A Armenia
Two countries in CD? And this is acceptable to everyone?

I guess the fleet in Wales has to be the odd unit out.

Actually I moved on moscow so you couldn't break the brits.

And I think since it says Russia gets one build but no place to put it (altough I believe they hold 4 centres and 4 units so they don't get a build at all). I should get 2 builds but only room to put one down.

make it an army in Vienna

I'm sorry to raise a stink over it, but I can't believe I'm the only person who finds two countries in cividl disorder unacceptable, especially Germany. Seeing that France and England are at war and Russia is weak, Germany was actually looking quite full of prospects, and was anything but "reasonably dead" before it's NMR. Even now, it is in a far better position than Turkey or Russia.

Oh, the joys of being a GM of Civdip :D

What is the deal, these players simply bail?

If they've just missed it by accident/whatever fair enough, they should pick up the pieces, but if they've bailed, then they won't play here again and we should abuse them on the forums whenever it is appropriate e.g they mention themselves in the context of a multiplayer game.

You are not the only one that sees the NMR as a problem just i havn't said anything. i have been plaing rather consevative in teh east attempting to block any and all attempts for Turkey and Russia to co-operate and i don't think, short of Russia laying down and giving centres to Turkey (cudoos on continuing the struggle Russia) there has been much you can do. In other words I have played the last few turns as though Turkey were a hostile enemy and sent orders to defend from any possible threat from that front. And a deal brokered with Italy has saved me from an attack that very easily could have come.

Personally I think the German NMR has ruined any chance I, Austria has in winning this thing. With Turkey in NMR I still really can't break it but Germany is the greatest threat to and the greatest source of centres for france.

Dispite all the statements from Russia that Austria has a solo I don't think that is anywhere as certain as it might have been i the past (I thought he was jumping the gun a bit then too) but I will continue to fight the good fight to free Europe from you tyrants.

We could consider a CFC ranking system similar to what Redscape does. It wouldn't be as easy to do since their entire site is devoted to Diplomacy, they have admin/GMs who devote themselves to maintaining the rankings, and their player tags/titles can only be changed by the admin when the player rank changes.

Here, the simplest thing would be to have one of us maintain a list just recording a history of our games: who won, who NMRed (and how many times), who abandoned a game with a debatable reason and who just walked away without a word. I'd suggest that the person to keep the list be someone who is both a long time community member and willing to keep the list up in the future. That person would simply have to keep editing and re-editing the first post in a thread devoted to this subject. GMs would PM new game info to that person and he or she could keep the data up to date.

Or, just play in Attache+ games at Redscape :p

I could do this. In a thread, perhaps? A list of all Cidippers and thier stats, who you can call in case of ned of replacement, etc.
