Civfanatics Survivor Challenge

The weapon selection has to beat the number of participants in order to keep the smaller tribe competitive. If it were the way I was doing it before, the larger team would never have to vote anyone off.

I thought that, when the teams are technically equal (only one team had fewer members who remembered to submit their weapon), the larger team would have the advantage.

A tribe with more weapons will have a better chance of winning, so participation is very important at this stage!

so your saying that in order to make even teams, we must disregard higher participation?

The team with higher participation will have a better chance of winning, though, as they will have more expendable people. I'll let Mojo elaborate:

Specifically, Louis had a Sling and the two remaining Sibling players had Spears. Sling is invulnerable to Spear and always beats it. So over the course of three rounds, Louis was able to pick-off the Spear-wielders.

Weapon selection is supreme. Number of participants is important, because it means your tribe has more weapons in play and can absorb more damage, but ultimately weapon selection prevails over number of participants.

Here's an extreme example:

Tribe A has one player, who was a Spear.

Tribe B has twenty-seven players and for whatever reason all choose Shields.

Tribe A wins because the Spear is invulnerable to the Shield, but the Shield is vulnerable to the Spear.

This balances situations where one tribe is smaller than the other, and gives a smaller tribe a fighting chance.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but keep in mind that the rocks-scissors-paper system of resolution is only a colorful device to determine which tribe wins immunity in the first half. The actual game is won or lost in Tribal Council votes.

OK, I understand.

I hope this little problem won't end up with a dramatic effect on the game.

I look forward to the second round. But, if you don't get all the votes, you might want to postpone the second round a bit, to give people a chance to figure out what happened.

oh okay, i couldn't really take time to go through the results, it was still done similtaniously right?

I just followed the results and found out that I single-handedly faced off against LLXerxes and Oblivion in the second and third rounds, wounding them both with my Sling

I feel like David against Goliath, slaying my enemies with my sling :D

Basically what happened was, after all the fighting in the first round, LLXerxes, Oblivion, and me (I?) remained. Both the people from the other side were armed with Spears, so, using the rock-paper-sissors method, couldn't win when down to the final battles.

Also, after looking carefully, if one player had chosen a different weapon, the result could have been dramatically different.

BTW, when are weapon and player votes due?

Hello?

When does the next round start?

Still tabulating results...I will have them available tomorrow. :)

After a few days to give everyone a chance, Tribe Sibling has voted:

Gumby78 voted for LLXerxes
ybbor voted for LLXerxes
-0blivion- voted for LLXerxes

The tribe has spoken: LLXerxes must leave the island. His closing comments are welcome, although he might not be here...

More to come. :)

The tribes meet again for slaughter...

Sibling
-0blivion- = Spear
YNCS = Sling
Perfection = Sling

Darkshade
CivGeneral = Spear
Louis XXIV = Shield
nonconformist = Sling
Emp. Napoleon = Shield
WildFire = Shield

Perfection wounded CivGeneral
nonconformist wounded -0blivion-
-0blivion- wounded Louis XXIV
Louis XXIV wounded YNCS
Emp. Napoleon wounded Perfection

Tribe Darkshade wins by elimination.

Tribe Sibling must evict a member by Sunday at noon US Central time.

Sibling: Please send in your votes by then.

Everyone: Send in weapons by Monday at noon US Central time.

This time I am going to have to train harder on my Bo Katas and apply them to my spear :p.

This time it wasn't even close!

I would hate it to be this lopsided throughout.

Just remember that the immunity challenges will stop once the tribes merge. It's not whether your team wins, it's whether you will win.
