I thought it might be a good idea to hve a dedicated thread for new civilization for NiGHTS.

I have just uploaded a new version of Kongo (v4), as I had to take into account the latest changes (palace +5 gold instead of 2). It is available here and on ModBuddy.

I also completed the adaption of Boudica of Iceni, orignally created by Kael. I always like Boudica, that's why I wanted to have them also in my favorite MOD. I retained most of the elements from the original mod: two UU (Gaelic Warrior and Sons of Morrigan) and their abilities. I also gave them the Drill 1 promotion. Boudica is Aggressive and Expansive. Semprine was so kind and created two new unit icons (as Kael did use to vanila Warrior and Swordsman icons) and a new map. so: THANK YOU! :goodjob:I did not find any faults so far, but I count on your help to check that everythink is fine ;)

Her name should be just "Boudica" instead of "Boudica of the Iceni", because it looks stupid in the civ selection list (Boudica of the Iceni - Celtia :crazyeye:)
Otherwise, good job.
 
Maybe you could change the topic from "Civilization for NiGHTS" :rolleyes: to something like "New Civilization for NiGHTS ... ?

Once Sneaks gets his cityview UI changes working, I'll sticky a thread that lists all the different companion mods for CivNights as there's quite a few of them now. :)

Yes, I agree - it is a little bit too much. I'll change that in the near future.


Concerning the thread title - yes, a better title would be good, like the one you proposed. If I only could find an option to change to thread title :(
 
Does anybody know how to make the alpha icons for the civ symbols? I just saw that Boudica uses the symbol of the USA for her cities if played by the AI. And after I took a look at other well done civs like the epic greek one, I saw that I would need some new alpha icons for the civilization. any ideas? help?
 
In anticipation of the upcoming changes to NiGHTS, I'll also change Boudcia/Celts:
- removing the Gaelic Warrior and replacing it with a UB (Dun)
- Dun will replace Walls and give 7 defense, +2 production, +2 happiness and 25 XP
- the UU Sons of Morrigan will also change: additional to it's Drill 1 promotion, it will also get +20% city attack, cannibalism 1 and strenght 13 instead of 12 (it replaces swordsman).

I hope that is not too strong ;)
It wil be online soon after NiGHTS v11.4 is out.
 
So with a Dun and Barracks, Sons of Morrigan can access Drill 3? That early in the game...

The Dun seems to be an upgraded Walls of Babylon.

Also, I'd suggest removing Cannibalism 1 promotion or the extra strength.

Nice job. :) Does the Dun have a maintenance cost? I've removed them from all of the other UB's as kind of a common feature. Also, don't try and upload a new version to the ModBrowser just yet - it seems to now allow uploads, but they can't be downloaded by users, and your ModBuddy will crash from then on when you try to log in.

yes - the Dun doesn't have a maintenance cost, I forgot to mention this point :crazyeye:

Thanks for the info on ModBuddy - it can really be annoying sometimes...
 
UPDATE - Kongo v6 is now in line with v11.52 an AVAILABLE: in the download section at Civfanatics or at the in game Mod Browser.
new trait (Glory of the Manikongo): +1 gold from river tiles, and +25% when fighting inside own borders.
further changes: new graphic for the Pombo unit. I use the Zulu Impi unit created be Deliverator; new icon for the Raffia Mill (this was used by Cyon in his forum thread but never used in the game itself - and I think it fits better then the other one)

Update for Boudica-Celts follows (hopefully soon)

Trait: Battel Fury - Melee units can make 2 attacks per round, and land military units receive a +30% discount on maintenance costs.

I'm working on another Civ - Austria-Hungary. And one consideration was to give it a trait where it would gain +1 culture for specialists. I took the same code as Korea has - just switched science with culture. But it doesn't work and I cannot see why. Any ideas?

Other traits like +1/city is working. hmmm

I believe you need to change <TraitType>CULTURAL_HERITAGE with <TraitType>TRAIT_CULTURAL_HERITAGE

Culture doesn't actually act as a yield in CivV unfortunately.
 
So, my last schedulded civilization for NiGHTS is ready. I have just released her on Civfanatics and on ModBrowser

AUSTRIA-HUNGARY with Franz-Joseph as leader
Trait: Cultural Heritage: Cities generate +1 culture per turn, and Great People are generated +40% faster in their capital.
UU: Hungarian Hussar - replaces Cavalry, gets +25% against wounded units, can move after attack, Shock I promotion. I use the unit graphics of the Polish Hussar from the Polish Empire Mod.
UB: Vienna Court Opera, no maintanance costs, +6 culture, 1 artist slot, +2 happiness
