As the title implies, how does Civilization (III) look in high resolutions? Right now I play in 1024x768 and am quite satisfied with the view. I've read about the KeepRes = 1 option in the .ini file, but once you apply that, how does it look?
For example, if I played in 1920 x 1200, would I see more of the map at once or would it be the same with more detail? Really I don't want to see more of the map at once; if I did I'd play in zoomed-out mode.
The same question applies to Civilization IV, but with less importance since I can zoom in to a crazy level. More importantly for CivIV is, what is the highest resolution (1280x1024 is the highest I see, but that's my monitor's max)?
Also, has anyone played Civ with the psuedo-NumPad some laptops have (890 = 789, UIO = 456, JKL = 123)? I'm surprised how dependent I've become on the NumPad for moving units short distances (probably wouldn't be a deal-breaker to not have one for; never use it for any non-Civ purposes)!
Answers will help determine which resolution to get in a new laptop.
