Hello all,

I´m having major doubts about if this is the right subforum to write my post. Accept my apologies if is not

We are 4 students at the RWTH university in Aachen (Germany). We developed this semester a matching algorithm for civilization IV, based on a Colonization Scenario (with specifical units, technologies and buildings). We also provide an historical context, based on the latest middle age. Since our evaluation is going to be in a short period of time, we would like to receive any kind of feedback from the biggest comunity of Civilization Fanatics. :).

The URL is the folowwing: http://eiche.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/civ4/

You can feel free to try it. If you need any assistance, or you need to ask whatever, please contact by private message to me or under eenriquelopez AT gmail DOT com.

Thank you in advance.

What? I see some kind of scenario mod and also there is something about "matching players"? I'm imagine you are running your algorithm to analyze gameplay and introduce players with similar ability levels to each other but I see nothing that clarifies this point. Care to explain?

Hey Grokent, you're right with your imagination although the matching algorithm is quite rudimentary still.
When users register, they have to specify their age, gaming experience, preferred civilization and preferred winning strategy. Based on these values in connection with the points achieved in our community, we calculate how well a player matches into the setting of a created (and not completed) match.
All available matches are listed and a percentag indicates the user if he should join the match or not. Basically this is intended to prevent newbies to join matches between experts and vice-versa.
I hope this answered your question.
