Civilization Request Thread

Your Gauls Idea sounds like a combination of MC's (?) and the outdated one. Have a Combat bonus against Infantry Units instead of in friendly territory. Also for a more unique approach make it more of how Gaul were with the Romans. They gathered support by going to every city they could. So maybe have it where the Oathsworn has a chance to recruit a new unit each turn when garrisoned in a city.

Kush sound really good. That first part of the UA goes well with Honor's policy of +1 culture and happiness in a garrisoned city. The Archer sounds a little bleh. Melle attack is interesting but make it have a March Promotion when on Flood Plains and remove the extra movement. The Nubian Temple sounds interesting so keep it the way it is. Overall nice job :goodjob:.

I said I was going for a Firaxis style approach with this design, but MC's Gaul is more of a Firaxis styled civ. (Get Gaul, find the thing they're good at (metal working) make that there UA, have a unique warrior and get a famous leader (Vercingetorix), while mine was more combat focused because I wanted to show Vercingetorix leading the Celtic people of Gaul against Rome, and as a part of that feel I was going to have settled cities be puppetted with the bonuses puppetted cities receive (to simulate the other tribes of Gaul in a coalition under Vercingetorix who's leading them from Gergovia). Good suggestions, I'll see how I'll implement them. Oh also the Gold Minter is supposed to be called the Coin Minter! (I've fixed that now).

Yeah I was struggling to find a unique unit for Kush, the only thing I could find was the Apedemak Archer which More Civilizations Nubia nicked and I didn't want to do Meshwesh or Libu tribesmen. So I'll take your suggestion on board, thanks for your insight!

No problem. I was trying to make your suggestion a little more unique. I gave march on flood plain because of how they invaded Egypt (Nubia) and how they defended against the Romans.
Also my civs are being released tomorrow because I'm gone the whole day on the 22nd and I'll forget. Also you didn't answer my question in whether or not you wanted my Cilicia (It's actually a part ot it, not the whole design) but I'll give it here:

I forgot the UA (I don't have it near me now but I'll put it in at some point :p) but I do have the color and the UU.

Color: Coral/Sand
Capital: Tarsus
UU: Crusader Knight: Is stronger than the regular knight (23) and gets the blitz promotion. Has no city penalty and gets 1 less movement though.

Side Note: The Forums keep freezing on me when I reply and I have to reload which sometimes loses my replies so my replies might sound fast and more summary-like because it keeps happening.

It's time! Here are the Roman African Provinces.

Mauretania Tingitana: Marcellinus: Praebitor Romae (Suppiler of Rome): Trading away a luxury (Last one or not) provides a lump of :c5culture:, which increase by era. Connecting a copy of a luxury you already have provides an extra +1 :c5happy:.

Mauri Eques (Mauri Horsemen): Replaces Horseman. Has a weaker combat :c5strength: (10), but get a combat bonus for attacking cities and steal :c5gold: when attacking cities. Provides +1 :c5happy: whenever it gets a promotion.

Limes: Can only be built on the end of your cultural borders. Is available at Ironworking. Provides +1 :c5production: and :c5gold:. Eliminates all :c5moves: points when a enemy unit passes through a Limes. If there is more than 4 Limes in a cities workable range, then the city gets +4 :c5happy:. If a Limes is not on the edge of your borders, then the Limes is automatically removed. Yields are doubled after Steel.

Mauretania Caesariensis: Albinus: Nepos Mauretaniae (Ancestor of Mauretania): Start near a source of dyes. Connecting Dyes provide a lump sum of :c5gold: (Increases each era) and Dyes have +1 :c5production:. Connecting a source of Horses provides a free mounted unit.

Afri Eques (African [Berber] Horsemen): Replaces the Horseman. Ignore Terrain Penalties and get’s a bonus for attacking mounted units.

Habraea Ara (Jewish Sanctuary): Replaces Temple. Provides +1 :c5culture: alongside the +2 :c5faith:. Has a chance to give 50 :c5gold: each turn (Each time decreases the chance.) and :c5angry: from number of :c5citizen: reduced by 10%.

Africa Proconsularis: Saturninus: Granarium Imperii (Granary of the Empire): Farms provide +1 :c5food:. :c5citizen: need -25% less :c5food:.

Terra Sigillata Limen ([A type of clay produced] House): Replaces Water Mill. Besides usual benefits, Provides a source of Pottery (Luxury Resource) and +2 :c5production: instead of +1.

Romanus Evocatus (Roman Veteran): Replaces the Worker. Can build farms and pasture 50% faster and can be stationed in a city to provide +15 XP for units built while the Romanus Evocatus is stationed there.

Aegyptus: Gallus: Coacotres Terrae (Tax Collector of the Land): :c5citizen: provide +1% :c5gold: production in the city (Max +25%). When a city reaches 10 citizens, gain 25 :c5gold: for every :c5citizen born (Increase by era).

Alexandrinus Civis (Alexandrian Citizen): Replaces Great Merchant. Can do a trade mission in a civ’s capital, which provides triple amount of gold. Customs House from a Alexandrinus Civis provides +2 :c5ulture:.

Nomes (District): Replaces Market. Provides +2 :c5production: and has an extra Merchant Slot.

We have a civ that focuses on happiness, one on dyes and gold, one purely on food, and one that purely focuses on gold.

Fun Fact: North Africa was a fertile region during the Roman Era but after the Romans vanished, Nomads overgrazed the land and turned it to the hot desert climate we know today in North Africa.

Oh boy this is a long list.

Now I grouped these two together because they are very similar. Despite that I think you did a good job with them. Also can you show me where you got the idea of Limes from?

So this is the food civ I take? Nice and simple and effective uniques. I like!

Aegyptus: Gallus: Coacotres Terrae (Tax Collector of the Land): Citizens provide +1 :c5gold:. City :c5gold: Production increased by 10% for each 10 :c5citizen:.

+1 :c5gold: gold per citizen! That's nuts! Could you imagine what would happen in the late game! You gonna have to tone that down somehow.

The slit climate change during late antiquity also help make North Africa arid, along with the overgrazing by the nomads. Also nice job with the civs! They diffidently feel authenticate and historically accurate! (except for Aegyptus: Gallus's UA, too strong!)

For the record, the latin word "Limes" refers to border fortresses. We had plenty of limes up in the Netherlands too.

Ah so they're border forts? Interesting, thanks for that piece of information!

I have an idea. How about instead of +1 :c5gold:, I do each citizen provides +1% to city gold production. Max would be 25%. Then I'll change the second part to every citizen born provides 25 gold (after a city had 10 citizens). That'll clear it up. Like Civ'ed said, Limes were border fortresses, (Like the Hadrian Wall). The reason Mauritania provinces are so similar is that they're almost the same thing. They both export Dyes/Woods, Horses, etc. They were one province at some point, which explains their similarity. I tried finding anything that distinguishes them and the only thing I found was Mauritania C had Numidia and Mauritania T kept getting raided.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed to find out the Dutch citrus industry was non-existent. :p
Speaking of which, I might be looking into a Batavi or Frisia civ for my thread thing soonish.

Oh yeah, Frisia and Batavia could be interesting civs. Another civ you could do is the United Provinces, (The Dutch Republic lasting from 1581–1795) and you could have it in conjuration with Batavia. Also having it compatible with the Enlightenment Age mod would be a good idea as well.

Yes that sounds like a good replacement for the system you had first put in place, again thanks for telling me guys, these Limes are quite interesting! Yeah I guessed the two Mauritania civs would of had a close history, and I know how hard it can be to find information on some of these guys so I wont criticize you, I wasn't going to anyways.

That's fine. I knew you weren't criticizing. I don't what I'll work on next but I won't work on it for a while. I'm going to watch the new Star Wars finally so I'm excited :D,

Apparently it's really good, and they've already started filming episode eight.

It was SO GOOD! Though it was like the 4th movie but with different plots and different scenarios. A couple noticeable cliches but overall I can't wait for the 8th (Though with the way they're released we won't see movie 8 till 2018 :p).

Yeah people were saying that it stuck to A New Hope's story way to much, but I guess better to play it safe than sorry. Didn't they say it's coming out 2017 and not 2018?

It was similar to a New Hope but there are some differences. Actually I don't know when 8 comes out. So you're maybe right. I thought 3 years because every trilogy had 3 years between parts.

I know right (1 was in 1999, 2 in 2002, 3 in 2005, 4 in 1977, 5 in 1980, and 6 in 1983)? What we're digressing off the thread so I will put it back to place with a question for you. Do you want me to do city names for Rum? I can easily provide some assistance for that.

I was going to say were digressing and that I was going to post a design soon (which I still am). Yes that would be could, saves me time looking it up my self, I've sent you two maps to work with. You shouldn't need anything else.

Saw your note and replied. I'll post in on my thread (Which is in my signature).
