Civilization Request Thread

All things aside I'd love to do this sometime :3

Yeah ;) That could be an interesting stream, actually.

"Alright, the country is... once this ******* perpetual motion machine globe stops spinning, alright, the country is... Mauritania. Have fun! You have thirty minutes."

In other news, literally all I need for Korea before release is a pedia for Seonjo!
I actually have no idea whether someone is working on one or not. Never mind, got confirmation that it's well under way ;)

Mauritania
lesgo
(ok not quite mauritania but part of it)
EMIRATE OF TRARZA
Muhammad al Habib
Capital: Merderdra
Other cities: Rosso, some other stuff presumably
UA: Hassaniya Castes - Every time a great person is born, receive a related boost in the capital, depending on the era they are gained in. Resistance in conquered cities is reduced by 50%.
Spoiler boosts :

ADMIRAL = food/XP to any nearby units
ARTIST = culture
ENGINEER = production
GENERAL = production/XP to any nearby units
MERCHANT = gold
MUSICIAN = Tourism
PROPHET = Faith
SCIENTIST = Science
WRITER = Tourism, Culture (smaller amount of both)
(KHAN) = Trarza cannot acquire Khans normally. If granted a Khan, Trarza will receive one Horseman, Knight or Tank with the Khan.
(MERCHANT OF VENICE) = Trarza cannot acquire MoVs normally. If granted a MoV, Trarza will receive the most up-to-date naval vessel they can have.

UU: Znaga: The Znaga replaces the worker. The Znaga can be expended on any resource to grant access to that resource as well as a +1 gold increase on the tile they were expended on.
EG: A znaga is expended on a copper resource. The empire now has access to copper, as well as a +1 gold above its usual bonus. This is done through a "special" improvement.
UB: Zawiya Quarter: Replacing the University, the Zawiya quarter receives a bonus to science from desert instead of jungle tiles.

Hey, I'd play that.

To make the Znaga simpler, maybe it creates improvements instantly but is consumed when doing so?

That'd make sense, yeah.

Have it not be consumed when building roads because that'd make it extremely lame.

Yeah it could, I quite like this idea! And yeah so, wait thirty minutes to make a civ?! Lan who do you think we are? It's made worse if we have an obscure country.

Oh who are these guys and where did you find out about them? I really like the sound of this civ, nice and simple and effective. Might be interesting to make later in the future...

Trarza? Not quite sure. I think I first learnt about them via the Alkebu-Lan map, and then decided to go a bit further with it when senshi said "do mauritania".
Honestly the design for trarza could also work for Tagant or Brakna, two other pre-colonial mauritanian Hassaniya emirates.

that map has me so triggered rn

it's a pretty good map of most major african countries/tribal groupings.

Naut really, it just sort of slaps a random country on each part of the map with no regard for when they existed. Some of them are tribal groupings, some of them are dynasties, some of them are amirs, some of them are countries, some of them never even existed. Its like having a map of Europe with the duchy of burgundy, Catalonia belarus, the republic of venice, the roman empire and nazi germany all coexisting.

:c5faith: Mauritania :c5faith:
:c5capital: Ouadane
Bassi

UA: The Adrar
Resources on desert tiles yield +1 :c5food: food (doubled for desert stone or marble), and desert tiles adjacent to a mountain provide +1 :c5faith: faith and +1 :c5production: production. :trade: Trade routes (incoming, outgoing, and internal) yield :c5faith: faith for every mountain or quarry tile they pass next to/over.

UU: Marabout
Replaces Great Writer. In addition to normal great writer abilities, can be expended to permanently provide the benefits of a :c5faith: religious follower belief to all cities, including beliefs already belonging to other religions.

Spoiler :
This would not be allowed to stack; for example, if the religion in the city had +15% production for 15 followers, and you picked this belief, you couldn't get 30% production, only 15. "Followers" would be treated as "citizens" in terms of semantics.

UB: Ksour
Replaces castle. Contains a :c5citizen: writer specialist slot, which when filled provides the city with +3 :c5faith: faith for every :trade: trade route it is involved with, as well as +10% :c5science: science.

I like some of these mechanics but I don't know how good of specifically a Mauritania design it is

Did the half-hour globe thing with Arison again. He got France. I got something slightly more interesting:

Mahdist Sudan
Leader: Muhammad Ahmad
Capital: Omdurman
Start Bias: Desert
Cul Div: Islamic
Civ IV Traits: Spiritual/Imperialistic
Religion: Shia(?)

UA:
Claim of the Mahdi
Units gain a combat bonus when adjacent to Cities which do not follow your religion. Great Prophets provide the same bonus to combat as Great Generals.

UU: Ansar
Weaker than the Pikeman, which it replaces, the Ansar gains a huge combat bonus when fighting gunpowder units. In addition, it may spread your religion to cities you control exactly once.

UU: Baggara
Cheaper than the Lancer, which it replaces, the Baggara has no penalty against cities and gains a combat bonus when fighting in enemy territory. In addition, one Baggara can be poduced without and will not require Horses for every 20 Faith you are producing.

Just did a 'spin the globe' choice and got Normandy, so here goes:

Leader: Hrolf Ragnvaldsson
Capital: Rouen

UA: Conversion to the Faith: You may change your religion whenever you conquer a city.

UU: Chieftain: Unlike the Great General it replaces, the Chieftain also gains experience when conquering land and grants extra gold per turn when in rival territory, but can only be spawned if you conquer enemy territory.

UU: Raiding Ship: Unlike the Privateer it replaces, the Raiding Ship is unlocked at sailing and grants gold from attacking enemy units, but can't travel over ocean tiles and has -2 movement per turn.

I got Algeria. :c5war: Algeria :c5war:
:c5capital: Algiers
(Leader)

UA: Barbary slave trade
Defeating enemy units has a chance to spawn workers. Deleting workers in coastal cities provides a large sum of :c5gold: gold; however, it also increases :c5unhappy: local unhappiness by 1.

UU: Corsair
Replaces privateer. Chance to capture defeated enemy ships increases to 100%. For every active naval :trade: route, each Corsair receives a 5% :c5strength: strength bonus. Pillaging :trade: trade routes provides a free worker in the nearest coastal city.

UU: Maquisard
Replaces infantry. +20% :c5strength: strength and no extra :c5moves: movement cost in rough terrain. +10% :c5strength: strength for every civilization at war with you. Can be purchased for :c5faith: faith.

I'm 3 minutes over the time limit

How'd you even get those places? When I spun the world I got... somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean, somewhere north of Baffin Island, something south of Desolation Island, A little bit west of Timor Leste (well, that could have worked) and then right in the middle of Hong Kong (definitely works).

...But it took me almost 5 tries to get somewhere doable.

I landed on Canada.

I had yet to read a single wikipedia page about anything remotely related to Canada beforehand.

You can thus understand my despair as I spent my entire thirty minutes just deciding the names of the uniques alone.

why couldnt i land on yuropstan ;~;

edit: OH SH1T LANDED ON CANADA AGAIN WE BACK BOIS

Whereabouts on Canada? There might be a few patches where we haven't covered every native civ.
