CIVILIZATION V THEME CONTEST
WAR EDITION
WAR-1.jpg

FIRST SEMI-FINAL

This big inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest. Each civilization gets "represented" in this big poll. Since each civilization has a peace and war theme, the big poll will be divided into three editions: The Peace Edition, the War Edition, and the Overall "Grand Finals" Edition.

Each edition has two semi-finals and a final. The final will be composed of the top twelve themes from each semi-final. Unlike the Peace and War Editions, the Overall Edition will be a combination of peace and war versions. Each civilization would still be "represented". Per civilization, between the two versions (peace and war), the version which has the most number of votes gets to be represented in the Overall Edition. Example: Between the two versions of Washington's theme, the peace version gets the most votes. Therefore it gets to "represent" America in the Overall Edition.

The theme with the most number of votes in the Overall "Grand Finals" Edition wins the title of "Best Theme" in the entire game. There will be also winners for "Best Peace Theme" and "Best War Theme".

The big poll itself would last three weeks, with each edition occurring per week.

This is the first semi-final of the War Edition of the Civilization V Theme Contest.

Civfanatics, start voting now! Please tell your friends to vote, so there won't be a tie in the semi-final. Thanks! :D

Qualifiers will be announced on JULY 25, WEDNESDAY

Carthage without competition, the best and most epic of them, when i hear it i imagine Das Boot scenario with Industrial Era Carthage adaptation :P

My top five:
-China,fits very good with Empress Wu and very beautiful
-The Huns,simply says:"Look how glorious I am!",simply amazing
-Byzantium,very nice and it says:"You are walking towards your destruction"
-Carthage:very fitting for Dido and very pleasant
-Egypt,very Egyptian and beautiful

My four choices are:

- Persia(its war theme is beatiful to hear,although it's the saddest of all the war themes);
- Germany(probably,the creepiest version of "Ode to Joy" ever made);
- Carthage(it has an overturn in the middle of the music,like if Dido attacked her enemies on one front and surprise them on another);
- The Netherlands(It's just too perfect and it's my favorite war theme of Gods and Kings);

How is it possible to exclude England's war theme? So, no vote.
Lizzy's war theme - "I vow to thee, my country" is simply the best; I've never lost a CivWorld battle with it.

Once again Tatran. there are 2 semi finals. Lizzy is in the other

Can't say I am a fan really of most of the war themes in this bracket.

Carthage, the Netherlands, and Germany's are all decent though

Lizzy's war theme - "I vow to thee, my country" is simply the best; I've never lost a CivWorld battle with it.

There 2 semi-finals. England is in second group. I actually do not find nothing special in English theme, perhaps that linked to fact i am not from UK and less soul-bound to patriotic English theme? Its all personal mate....

Nothing patriotic, just the rhythm. Most war themes sound like afterwar, like being at a funeral.

Couldn't vote for less than seven.

- the Huns (one of the best in G&K. I soiled my pants when I first heard it, before even playing the game - European release date)
- Byzantium (incredibly powerful and full of splendour)
- Persia (I love how sad it is. It evokes the very tragedy of war)
- Germany (gives the feel of Imperial German army, the wars of 1866, 1870 and World War I. A beautiful but scary reimagining of a classic piece)
- Korea (short, but action-packed. I just love the strings part from 1:25 to 2:00, it's so powerful!)
- Carthage (this is possibly the best war theme from G&K. A true maelstrom of Punic warships)
- Mongolia (as the peace theme, my all-time favourite from Civ. The cello in this piece is simply wonderful, as is the feeling of the steppe and ruthless conquest)

With a heavy heart I had to restrain myself from voting for Russia (the scariest form of war during Russian winter on the endless plain), Rome (powerful brass, glory and might of the legions!) and Egypt (as Civciv5 said above: very Egyptian. a strong entry and relentless drums, strings and brass afterwards - astonishing).

It seems we might have a tie in the first semi-final. Please continue to vote as long as time permits!
