So, I tell China to stop converting my cities. He says ok. He immediately breaks the promise, and the game told me he broke them.

Okay! That's a pretext to declare war... no... wait... I still get a heavy warmonger penalty! Okay... then I should denounce him.... no... wait.... no denounce option.

What.
The.
Hell.

I don't expect Firaxis to fix this because they didn't fix it in Civ 5.

What a <snip> choire. Build units to restore my cities faith.

Why?
Can't?
I?
Just?
Declare?
War?
If?
A?
Civ?
Breaks?
It's?
Promise?

When *I* break MY promise, the civs go ballistic. It's f'ing one-sided and RUINS THE GAME.

Someone let me know when a mod is made to force Civs to uphold their promises.

I played a game where I was seriously surprised Gandhi didn't denounce me capturing his spy. How dare I stop his spy?

Anyway, I had killed/captured a dozen of his spies with no real obvious recourse but to spy on him. So I did...and the guy lost his ever loving mind when he caught my spy. Once. I literally killed/captured AT LEAST a dozen of his.

Jep its really iritating i allready posted a topic in idea and sugestion about causic belli for breaking promisses but it doesn't work.

Sumeria: "Remove that archer that's garisoned inside your city and is 3 tiles away from my border at once! It's very unsettling to have an enemy army near my borders!"

Me: "Uh..."

Sumeria: "What? Didn't you hear me?"

Me: "Well, I would, but I can't because of your war carts surrounding that archer."

Sumeria: "I don't understand."

Me: "I'm also a little concerned about the 50 war carts in my capital. And on the other side of my empire. And in the middle of my empire. Why did you even build so many war carts??? It's the modern era!"

Sumeria: "Um... So... Will you move that archer?"

Me: "Yeah... I'll ignore this request. Buddies?"

Sumeria: "Eh, sure, we're still allies. I'm upset though!"

Yeah I agree with these 100%
I get so many games where the they promise to stop converting and keep doing it anyway. I get that I can declare war, but its every game almost, and I'm rarely in a position to go to war that early. I would love it if once you told them to stop converting that if you enter the others area its an act of war.

Also agree with the troop thing. I got denounced and war declared because I wouldnt move the troops in my borders......

When you break a promise the AI civ does not immediately declare war or denounce you (denounce depends on their agenda/hidden agenda) it depends on how many negatives vs positives you already have with that civ. Also the negative/positives are not static like they were in 4/5.

I just trust that civ less if they break a promise.
