Civilopedia makes game crash to desktop.

One instance where the Civilopedia crash the game to the desktop every time:

1-Launch the BtS game.
2-Go to Civilopedia.
3-Select Civilizations.
4-Select "Dutch Empire" .
5-Click on their special building image.
6-Click on the "hyperlink" for the levee building.

And voilà, crash to desktop every times.

I have the game in English with Civilization 4, Warlords expansion and BtS installed on my computer. Every graphics settings to maximum, 4x AA, 1024x768, and the original Civilization 4 menu theme. I use the latest patch, 3.03.

Following your steps I also crash every time. Another link that does it is the Salon link from the French civilization entry in the civilopedia. I can still see the description for the Salon if I go directly to it from the buildings page though.

Here is another, from patch 3.03, BtS installed, with the BtS opening:

1) Select Technologies.
2) Select Mathematics.
3) Click on the hyperlink to "Fort" on the lower left.

It will crash your game.

EDIT: On a whim I began clicking through hyperlinks in the Civilopedia. Those definitely seem to be giving crash troubles. From Buildings -> Laboratory, clicking on the "Observatory" hyperlink will crash your game.

Here's mine.

1. Start up BtS
2. Go to the Civilopedia.
3. Go to Corporations.
4. Start reading about Standard Ethanol (for example) and then click on United Mining (for example) to read about that.
5. The game goes black and I am informed that it has been shut down because of an error, and do I want to notify Microsoft? I have done so. But Firaxis might benefit from knowing about it too.

This sucks. I'm having the same problems with the civilopedia. I was really hoping someone in the know would know what to do about. Oh, well. Here's hoping a new patch will fix this annoyance.

I have to vouch for this bug too, seems the blue underlined hyperlinks in the civilopedia crash BtS version 3.03. Didn't have this problem before that rather useless patch.

Has anyone tried a link that does work? If you are getting this problem, then just don't use the article hyperlinks until this is fixed. Use the main index instead, I don't think that crashes.

I had this same problem after installing the 3.03 patch.

Better solution: reinstall the game and go back to the 3.02 patch. The new patch is only needed if you player multiplayer and for me it was a mistake to update.

I have the exact same problem. Really hope a new patch will be released soon.

It boggles my mind how such a patch can be released containing such a serious flaw that is fairly easy to detect.

For now, just go back to the Units page, and click on Spearman there

For now, just to be sure, don't use any hyperlink in the civilopedia, because it seems it's far from the only link that's doing this.

I can confirm that the problem does not exist in 3.02 so that is the version I will stick to using for now.

Same problem (patch 3.03). I have tested for half hour and i have noticed that the hyperlinks work 10% of times:

1-Launch the BtS game.
2-Go to Civilopedia.
3-Select Units.
4-Select "Fast Worker" .
5-Click on hyperlink "Worker". It works!

I exit Bts and launch it again; repeat the operations above and the game crashes!!!

Sorry, what are you talking about? Where is this patch? The Civ version of the original build was 3.01 and the ONE patch i know is the 3.03..

You can find the 3.02 patch at www.gamespot.com. Just search for beyond the sword, go to the download section and select "patch".
