Civs of Tarkir

I bet you thought it was gone forever...

Spoiler :

Not what anyone was expecting and really overpowered, but I was bored this afternoon and decided to do this for whatever reason. Just to show that this project isn't COMPLETELY dead :p

I'm not currently working on this at the moment, but that's because I've been doing CL stuff and I'm bad at working up the courage to ask other people to do things. Also I should probably make designs that don't require insane DLL or UI (User Interface, not unique improvements) :p
Hopefully I won't get culled for bumping a dead thread

If it's any consolation, I already nerfed it :p

My plan of action is to continue to work on CL stuff as a priority, but try to figure out designs for these guys which are unique but not ridiculously difficult to code :p

Hm... thinking on the Dragon Throne of Tarkir makes me believe that making it provide the Great General Combat bonus from the Hakkapeliitta to all units would make more sense than simply give a bunch of horses, it'd align more with what the card does, from my point of view at least.

Okay, so my super-detailed plan is to try to draw back the scope of the five civs, at least for now. Like, instead of doing things which will require crazy lua, making them something I could theoretically do :p

By the way, does anyone have a good picture of a Kin-Tree? Because otherwise, well...

Anafenza's art from Dragons may actually work as a Kin-Tree icon... as odd as it would be to have her in two icons. :crazyeye:

Thought about it, but the Kin-Tree is hardly in Dragons Anafenza's art :p
Also doesn't help that it's Dromoka's reign so the tree is basically already on fire.

You'd think the Abzan would have more pictures of one of the most important things in their culture :p

Basically decided that if I can't find a good picture of a Kin-Tree, I'll just find a different unique. Sandsteppe Citadel, perhaps? I did find a Giraffe Archer model while looking for a suitable Siege Rhino, perhaps an Abzan Guide? Opinions?

Also I did more art:

Nice icons. Especially the middle one.

Yeah, something's telling me it'll be a real pain to find appropiate models for the unique units.

Maybe this could work for the Kin-Tree?

Also, while doing research I discovered that Kin-trees are based on the Cypres at Abarkuh, so there's that.

Kind of like the idea of using the Sandsteppe Citadel, actually :P

Make it a NoTwoAdjacent desert UI which claims all adjacent desert tiles like the Anapi'gann and I could have a lot of fun with it. Also there's DJSHenniger's Oriental Fort if I can't find anything better.

Would you interested in a tra... whatever, Accept this or we will attack :P

Nice! I was going to find colour schemes that weren't atrociously similar to others (Australia, Byzantium, Bearpuncher) but these will do nicely!

(Just for the record this is what I came up with: )

Okay, so making use of in-game promotions and lua, the Siege Rhino should be mostly code-able, but I'm probably going to nerf it a bit. Kind of invested in a Sandsteppe Citadel UI now, but I'd need to come up with a design which is different enough to the Casbah's. Any ideas?

Simplified the design down because I remembered I actually have to code it :p

Anafenza - Abzan (Salt Road Patrol)

Gain Food and City Strength from outgoing Trade Routes. Cities on or adjacent to desert produce units 15% faster.

UU: Siege Rhino
Unlike the Knight, which it replaces, the Siege Rhino is much slower, more expensive, and does not require Horses. All friendly units heal 10 HP when beginning a turn adjacent to a Siege Rhino, and all enemy units lose 10 HP.

UI: Kin Tree

Unlocked at Philosophy, and provides +1 Faith and Culture. +2 Food when built on Desert tiles, and an additional +1 Food and Culture upon the discovery of Fertilizer.

Wait, the Kin Tree is a UI? That'll make finding an icon a lot easier, since UIs typically use their build icons. I think there might a fantasy tree model that could work for it.

Alternatively, the Sandsteppe citadel could likely use one of the various desert fort models.

Okay, then here's one with "new" color schemes

The Kin-Tree was going to be a UB because I thought I wouldn't be able to find a model.
I was wrong :p

Still worried the UI is a bit lacklustre, though, any ideas?

These are fantastic, thanks!

Plenty of awesome art rolling around in this thread, huh?

Thanks!

While I'm waiting for some Abzan assets (anyone know where I can find a Rhino model?) I started thinking about my personal favourite clan, the Jeskai. This is what I came up with. As always, it could use some work.

Narset - Jeskai (Annals of the Sage Eye)
15% of your total Faith is provided as Science. Science buildings increase the spawn rate of Great Prophets.

UU: Swiftspear
Unlike the Lancer, which it replaces, the Swiftspear is available at Printing Press and does not require Horses. It also does not retain any of the Lancer's promotions, except the ability to move after attacking.

UI: Stronghold
Unlocked at Theology, the Stronghold may only be built on Hills and provides +1 Faith and +1 Science. An additional +1 Food and +1 Science if built on a source of Fresh Water.
