You could always buy a Mac and wait another year! Less hardware options = less programing = less bugs... usually...

I'd just like to thank the original poster of this thread. Best laugh I've had in a good while.

And, yeah, for reasons stated repeatedly, this would be totally unfeasable.

you dont want bugs? STOP PC GAMING

all pc games have some bugs... its life. but you know why they can do it. because PC games can be patched. you know why pc games have bugs and have patches and consoles dont?

in console gaming your desgining a game to run on 1 system, every xbox has the same specs... testing a console game is easy.... now pcs.. there are unlimited spec pcs. everyone can have a diffrent system.

now id say 85% of ythe people with this game dont have a single problem.... everyone else with the iffy and ****ty computer set up has to wait for the patches. guess what. even if thats true id rather 85% of people be happy and the rest forced to wait for a patch.

the publisher had to make a date, aoe3 came out a week b4 civ. civ had to be aggressive. yes it may have been too soon but most people can run it and will recommend it. and all you guys *****ing bout it returned. i wish there was a way to blacklist you from ever getting it again. come a month later you all buy the game again get the patches and be like oh this game is awesome.

anyways. i have some civing to do so go cry about the situation it wont change anything

I've seen this exact same thread started for every game that has ever come out for the pc. Why is it that the game works perfectly fine for me but not for so many others? After all, it's the EXACT same game made at the EXACT same place by the EXACT same people as the one you can't run. Fact is, you and all the others who are complaining about vid cards, T&L, "cheshire cats", dark terain, etc have computer problems. It's not the fault of Firaxis or Take 2 that you have not maintained or upgreded your pc over the years. There is something wrong with YOUR machine. Fix it and play or cry some more then move on to the next current release game that your pos machine can't run then attempt to sue that company.

I can't wait to see this guy on the morning talk shows talking about his class action lawsuit because his game doesn't work.

Pathetic.

I voted NO. The game is working fine on my system. Maybe the complainers need to read the fine print before they purchase the game. Update your drivers, make sure your gaming system can handle it.

Maybe all the Macintosh users should start a class action. Besides, they don't even have CIV 3 PTW or Conquests yet, after how many years? And they don't have CIV 4.

My system:
Windows XP SP2
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (128MB)
1GB Corsair DDR RAM
Athlon XP 2800 (2.25GHz) Processor

Did you hit "I agree"? If so, then you are not eligible for the law suit since you agreed to terms that prevent it. If not, then you can return your game for a full refund.

Read the EULA (End user License Agreement) before you post stupid stuff like this class action lawsuit crap

If lawsuits by fat people against fast food are viable and someone can get millions of dollars from McDonalds for spilling hot coffee then surely this lawsuit would be viable too.

I was beyond dissapointed by civ 4. First the constant freezes during the game, then the crappy graphics, and finally my inability to reinstall it. I'm probably gonna end up trying to return it to amazon.

The gaming industry has been ripping people off for a couple of years now. TakeTwo & Firaxis have crossed a line, and I think it's time to make an example of them. Who's interested in seeing a class action lawsuit against TakeTwo and/or Firaxis?

You must be American!!!!!

You are crazy if you think it would win!:crazyeye:

Research those lawsuits before you use them as an example of what you are trying to accomplish. What you hear in the popular media isn't always the full story.

Uhmm.. define "viable"

Yes, lawsuits have been filed. And, yes - every single one has been thrown out of court or or totally lost.

And BTW, the famous "hot coffee" lawsuit award was reduced by the courts by about 90% from the jury award - a fact that never made the headline news.

So, yes, anyone CAN file a stupid lawsuit - like the OP - but in real life your chances of winning are less than spectacular.

Some random thoughts after not reading the entire thread by my own admission. These points may have been made somewhere past page 4, but I'm unwilling to read through all the flames to find the salient points...

1. As a person who works with software development, I can assure you that testing is hideously expensive. To test every possible hardware configuration would be ridiculous. Want to pay $200 for your game instead of $50? I don't.

2. Even if all the testing mentioned above occured, there would still be bugs. It's unavoidable.

3. I ran this game last night on a system that doesn't even meet the minimums. Did it perform poorly? Yep. Did it work well enough to play an entire game? Sure did. I won a domination victory. Today I'll go out and buy upgrades.

4. Minimum requirements are just that. If you want to just barely play the game and not get the full experience, go ahead. Otherwise, get yourself outfitted for the "recommended" requirements.

5. The system requirements are on the box. People should read them before plunking down their 50.

6. Can't abide the issues you're experiencing? Take the game back. Wait for them to fix it. Whining about it doesn't fix the problem.

7. Threatening a class action lawsuit over a bug/issue in a video game is well, just plain silly. Only Americans (I am one, so don't be flaming me for American-bashing) would even consider this. It's a symptom of our whacked, litigious society. Our court system has much better things to do than monkey around with silly fluff like this.

8. Before anybody accuses me of being all fanboi about Sid and Firaxis and TakeTwo, know this. I'm deeply disappointed in the game. I think it sucks. I think it's been dumbed down to the point of taking all the fun gameplay out of it altogether. If there's anything people should be pissed off about, it's that. I'll give it a fair shake, but in the long run, I'll probably go back to Conquests for my gameplay time.

In summary. Stuff happens. We all buy product we're disappointed with at some point. If you don't like it, don't reward the manufacturer with the profit for the product. Take it back, play civ3, and be quiet about it.
