Classic old games

Well, I played the original Tomb Raider, Wing Commander, a bunch of others of which I don't remember their names and Might & Magic VI & VII. There was of course pretty much anything by Bethesda, Bioware and Black Isle, as well as the original Diablo.

Apparently, Alucard from Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is a Christian. But he's also a vampire. So he's a Christian undead fighting... evil undead.

lolwut

Just finished Castlevania III. I want a movie adaptation.

Trevor Belmont......Russell Crowe
Count Dracula.......Thomas Kretschmann
Grant DaNasty.......Johnny Depp
Sypha Belnades.....Katie Holmes
Alucard................Liam Neeson
Death..................Christopher Walken

Alas, I can dream...

I remember that the first few of my games have been the Donkey Kong game for Amstrad unless I've remembered incorrectly, Ikari Warriors (I think it was a very early version or something), and Super Mario Bros. was also a favorite of mine. :)

M.U.L.E.

M.U.L.E. is a seminal multiplayer video game by Ozark Softscape. It was published in 1983 by Electronic Arts. It was originally written for the Atari 400/800 and was later ported to the Commodore 64, the Nintendo Entertainment System, and the IBM PCjr[2] Japanese versions also exist for the PC-8801,[3] the Sharp X1,[4] and MSX 2 computers.[5] While it plays like a strategy game, it incorporates aspects that simulate economics.

all those works greatly under DOSBox.

Microprose, how much i miss you.

The first PC game I can remember getting really into was King's Quest VI. I remember being really impressed by the fact the game had narration, console games certainly didn't have that at the time.

Since this thread is brought back to life I might as well participate.

Flood, Amiga 500
A great platformer. Humor + innovative gameplay. Love this.

Legend of Kyrandia2: Hand of Fate
Adventure game with amazing graphics. Also innovative in the sense that it didn't use the "pick up" "look at", "pull," "push" commands of earlier games. This was point and click and the game figured out what you wanted to do. I actually bought this game. Up until piracy became uncool this was 1 of 2 games I actually had bought for full price. And for a 9 year old a full price game was very expensive (used all the cash I got for my birthday :))

Sid Meiers' Colonization
I got this for free when I subscribed to a game magazine. And I played this game a ton. It came out in when I was 10 so I also learned quite a bit about the american founding fathers from this game. Anyway, Brian Reynolds knows how to create a great atmosphere in a strategy game even if this game isn't the best strategy game.

Dark Forces
This was so great. Apparently it sold really well, but I never met anyone else so I felt I was the only one playing this.

lol. I have a burrough?

Dark Forces was EPIC. Awesome game. Good storyline, tons of secret locations to discover etc. Commander keen was like a much deeper mario. Loved it.

I also liked kings quest but I don't remember which one I played.

There was another sierra game called Gold Rush which my siblings and I loved. It was an adventure game basically kings quest but in the old west. You would start in New York and have to travel to California and find your long lost brother who had found gold. I don't think we ever actually beat if cus it was really hard for 7 and 8 year olds but it was awesome.

I was also really into X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Really great space flight sims by which all others should be judged. It's a shame the subsequent X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and X-Wing alliance sucked and there hasn't been a really good modern version. I still play Tie Fighter on dosbox from time to time.

And of course Civ1. We actually got this game from a friend who loaded it up and we proceeded to play the game with no manual or anything and of course no internet back then to explain it. So I basically learned civ1 as an 8-9 year old from scratch and just trying things out. I did a lot of stupid things and it took forever to figure out what all the graphics were like what was food and commerce etc. I specifically remember never building any buildings except happiness ones because they cost maintenance and I wanted to keep the slider as high as possible. Took a while to realize that the benefits far out weighed the costs.

I recently got Lord of the Realms 2 and played through it. The first was thrown in together as a pack, but haven't played it yet. Wanted the 2nd for nostalgia reasons.

Game has held up surprisingly well.

Lords of the realm 2 was great, indeed. I love crossbowmen! My only big gripe with it was the AI had no concept of seiging castles. If you got a royal castle they could never capture your county ever.
