What is the best way to clean or fix a keyboard? The period key and the "p" key on my keyboard are damaged after I spilled some Mountain Dew on it last night :(

I can't help you but TF, i gotta say this, DO THE DEW!!!.................................. [dance] :smoke: :bday: :smoke:  [dance]

ah, my keyboard has needed cleaning many times... I think we just unscrewed the bottom of it and ran something small like a paperclip between the keys. You wouldn't believe all the stuff we found in there

note: don't blame me if this breaks your computer in some way, that's what I think we did but I'm not sure.

I used a fork and popped the keys off, one by one until I had them all off. I then took a paperclip and cleaned the 3 years worth of cat and dog hair, drink and food gunk. It was amazing as bfl said. But the paperclip did work well, you just have to scratch around with it.

Oh and when I reassembled my keyboard, I had the ZXC keys mixed up! :D

well, I opened the keyboard and tried cleaning it, but w/o any success. The circuits must be damaged... I will send it back to Loitech for repair. That keyboard is a wireless one and costs like $65. :(

I bought a new non-wireless keyboard today for $15.

D'oh! good thing I didn't say immerse it in wata! :D

Mmm, let me see and remember... mine costed €10 approximately, it had been introduced to all stuffs. Nutella, chicken, ketchup, ice cream (Haagen Dasz, excellent quality :)), etc.. and it's still alive, thanks to cotton + alcohol. Oh and actually it was me who intentionnally mutilated it. There were 3 small buttons on the up right = power off, sleep and something else. I was really annoyed when I accidentally touch them, it switch my comp off, so it's stupid especially when I'm downloading.
Especially when I'm playing Heroes 4 too... So I took my cutter and ripped off those buttons!

hehehe..i wouldn't recommend that.

I turn mine upside down and go:bang, bang ,bang.

For gooey messes:I would go for new board.Unless it was something fancy(bet TF has something grand)then I take it to my local technician and they clean it for a small fee.

from cfc's nonsense tavern:

8. Yet another Dell customer called to complain that his keyboard no longer worked. He had cleaned it by filling up his tub with soap and water and soaking the keyboard for a day, then removing all the keys and washing them individually.

 good thing I didn't suggest that...
