College Bowl Prediction Thread

Standings at the first break:

shortguy 6-0
LLXerxes 6-0
AlCosta15 5-1
Azale 5-1
pawpaw 4-2
Fetus 4-2
blindside 4-2
MattBrown 4-2
ummmm........ 4-2

So on the upside, we're all above .500

On the downside, I'm last. (ties were broken by timestamp of entry)

(And blindside's entry was edited after the GMAC bowl, dropping him to 3-3 if you want to be really anal about it . . . )

That was me editing Navy over Colorado State.

Sure sure. Likely story. :mischief:

But like I said, I don't think anyone's really going to be that anal about it. It's not like there's thousands of dollars in cash and prizes on the line or anything . . .

I'm sick of both of them. Texas hasn't played a real team in the last year accept for OSU and the '04 Wolverines. Remember that-
  • They beat Big Blue in the last second
  • Ohio State gave the game away
  • They havn't played a real friggin team this year
As much as I hate both of them, Texas is not a real team. I think USC wins by 10.

Jesus, I hate that kind of logic. They WON. They BEAT Michigan...they BEAT Ohio State.

They also beat #7 (at the time) Texas Tech, Colorado twice (by a margin over 100 I think), beatdown Oklahoma, and anyone else in thier way.

They had the victory of the year over OSU, and noone else really came close when the final score was tallied.

USC is not overrated this year either, even though Im getting sick of the ESPN lovefest as well. Stop being bitter just because USC & Texas are the clear cut best teams in college football and can beat down any of your teams 9 times out of 10 :)

Oh, and Merry Christmas! :goodjob:

Texas Tech SUCKED. They didn't play ANYBODY, and ran up the score to get higher in the polls. Then ESPN fell in love and made it look like an interesting game. Colorado is horrible and only made it into the B12 championship through the backdoor. Oklahoma is having a rebuilding year... oh and by the way Oklahoma sucks.
Nobody says USC is over rated. USC isn't as good as last year but is still a decent team.

USC's offense IS better. The recievers are much more matured, and Lendale White is more of a factor as well.

You still havnt countered the fact that noone came close to Texas besides Ohio State...I mean, Texas had most of these games under wraps by halftime. Texas Tech was a decent team too, better than most TT teams of the past. Texas shutdown a potent TT offense, not just beat them.

Texas plays in the Big12! Virginia Tech could go undefeated in the B12! It's one of the absolute worst conferences out there. I can't be suprised when Texas puts up 60 on Baylor! They're just running up the score on teams that can't count that high!

Granted the Big 12 is down , but Texas went to the "shoe " at night and won--not easy to do

Oh and there is no doubt about that. That is one of the toughest stadia in the country to win in. But aside from that, I don't see Texas acomplishing enough to beat USC.

The important thing for everyone to remember is that there aren't actually any other bowl games between now and Jan. 4 . . .

That's how I felt about Cal/BYU. Clemson surpised me a little bit by letting Colorado hang around as well . . .

ASU-Rutgers was some of the worst defense I've ever seen. Rutgers had awful coverage and ASU's tackling was terrible. The only thing that could have made it worse would be Pac-10 officiating. Still closer game than I thought. Props to Rugers, this should help their recruiting.

2 great high-scoring offenses that go down to the wire in a big game. It's compensation for the suck-ola defense we saw... ¬¬

Nothing compensates for suck-ola defense. I enjoyed watching the score updates of the ASU-Rutgers game because there was a lot of back and forth and it was exciting to follow. But if I had actually been watching the game, I probably would've turned it off . . .

For Rutgers, its not so bad. Get some offense, maybe then get some of those New Jersey recruits, and then the defense will eventually come.

For Arizona State...thier supposed to be established, and atleast mediocre on defense. Thier not supposed to give up 40 points to Rutgers.

btw, Kansas defense is top 10 in the nation. Texas scored 66 on it.

btw #2, they beat Michigan...a better Michigan team. And they themselves were not as good. I think theyll hang around with USC, unlike Oklahoma, Im not predicting a win but I wouldnt be surprised by one.
