College Bowl Prediction Thread

I only picked Michigan and OSU to win thier games, the rest of the Big 10 is pretty mediocre. Purdue is still pretty bad, I have no idea who they beat to become bowl eligible because thier defense was horrendous.

Just read Purdue beat NO teams will a winning record this year--and won 8 games-thats a tough schedule:mischief:

Because they have an awful defense. It's going to be funny watching Purdue's terrible defense play against a turnover-prone Maryland offensive. :crazyeye:

Actually, last year people were predicting Purdue to win the Big 10, because they didn't play Michigan or OSU, and had Iowa at home... and ended up almost last in the conference.

The only Big 10 team that I'd feel reasonably ok with picking to win straight up is Ohio State. I think Florida is oging to win but at least OSU has talent, motivation, and are focused.

Michigan is going to get crushed. They've spent the last couple weeks crying and their heads and hurts aren't in the game.

Wisconsin can beat Arky. I don't see it happening but thats going to be in interesting game.

Penn State has no chance vs Tennessee. Thats a pretty big mismatch all across the board. Besides the LSU/ND game I think this is the biggest physical mismatch in the bowl season. Penn State would have like 1 player that would start on Tennessee. UT is a real good team, if Ainge didn't get hurt they would be in the top 10 pretty easily.

Iowa has no shot. Thats a complete mismatch. Only hope is that their opponent comes in sleep walking and unmotivated.

Purdue is...Purdue. THey are playing Maryland so its not exactly the battle of the titans, but Purdue hasn't done squat all year. Not that Maryland are worldbeaters.

They had a big preseason fight in the locker room with players suspended and kicked off--it really divided the team and they kinda fell apart.

Or Michigan may have a chip on their shoulder--never know

ND got no love getting LSU--a home game plus the SEC coaches just named LSU the BEST team in the SEC--not Florida.

Texas Tech over Cal in the '04 Holiday Bowl, and Oklahoma over Oregon in the '05 are reasons you could believe that Michigan would come out flat after all of thier protesting.

Of course, I'm not one of those people, but you could easily see it that way.

Plus I think USC is better all around than UM. And they have a much better coach.

ND is just garbage. LSU is light years better than them. LSU is probably the most talented team in the nation

You, sir, are a joke.

If I go with your false logic, Florida should get crushed because Urban Meyer has been playing Mr. Congressman for two weeks. Grow up, neither Lloyd Carr nor the players have "whined" about anything. That's purely fans, and not even half the fans (trust me, I visit quite a few Michigan boards) Really, I bet you can't name a single Michigan player. Go read a College Football magazine, kid.

The Texas Tech-Cal game was because Cal hadn't faced an offense like Texas Tech; a pure passing power (alliteration ftw) offense. Cal's defense wasn't all it was made out to be anyways, and this is coming from a Cal fan (yes, Cal is one of my teams... not as big as Michigan though!)

Cal was a one loss team that felt it got unfairly pushed out of the Rose Bowl, maybe rightfully so considering thier only loss was a close one to USC as opposed to UT's shutout loss to Oklahoma. They were facing a mediocre TT team with a baaaad defense and came out completely flat.

Oregon was a one loss team that felt it got unfairly pushed out of the Fiesta Bowl, maybe rightfully so considering thier only loss was a close one to USC as to Notre Dame's multiple losses to MSU & USC. They were facing a mediocre Oklahoma team and came out completely flat.

Michigan is a one loss team that felt it got unfairly pushed out of the National Championship game, maybe rightfully so considering thier only loss was a close one to Ohio State as opposed to Florida's loss to a lower ranked Auburn. They are facing a weaker USC team and....well, we'll see.

They are kinda parallel. Teams that believe they deserve to be somewhere better USUALLY come out flat, but not always. USC destroyed Michigan after feeling they were robbed, Auburn handled VaTech.

Remember, I still got Michigan because I think USC has lost its flow on offense and will not regain it against Michigan's front four, but thier is a strong case to be made that Michigan could be surprised.

What exactly did Urban Meyer say? UM, LLLLLoyld Carr, and ESPN are creating a myth. You have no idea what Meyer said. He answered a question. Carr has been whining and complaining at an alarming rate. Meyer said nothing about UM. Simply said the truth. 1. With our schedule we don't need style points. 2. Seeing the Big 10 champ vs the SEC champ would be nice.

Frankly I bet I've seen more UM games than you have this year son. So I'd recommend you keeping your mouth shut.

That's probably not too hard to do considering they were almost all nationally broadcast.

Well, we'll just have to see. USC is a good team (which is why they're in the rosebowl! :o ) with a very good offense and a... marginally good defense. But, I think Booty won't preform like he did in the Notre Dame game.
Besides, who cares about speed when you can't get past the defensive line?:p

Well... here's him being a smug little ass. Not really trash-talking, but you can see why nobody outside the SEC likes him.

I can dig up plenty more if you like. Now it's your turn to find stuff on Lloyd Carr.
Keep in mind that Carr made his statement on Meyer before the Championship selection, so he wasn't "whining" about the outcome at all.

And unless you saw the Ball State game, I doubt you've watched more games than me. 11 out of 12 is a tough number to beat. Go listen to Lynard Skynard or something.

Not to distract from all this insight into the tactics and strategy of the title game, but I just wanted to remind everyone that you've got less than eighteen hours to make those last-minute edits to your prediction posts . . .

Editing is for wimps. Let it ride, baby!

pawpaw, you didn't pick the International or GMAC bowls. I suppose you can still do so now in a new post (as opposed to editing your old post) unless someone objects . . .
