Communism II

Now this meant the wily Hungarians could make the trucks twice as heavy by welding huge girders along the chassis of the truck, thus charging a fortune! And the Russians paid in full for the contract!

That sounds very capitalistic to me:rolleyes: . The Russians must have been stupid or something. Isn't communism based on the division of labor?

An ideal communist society, with every single concievable idea which makes the government communist is inconcievable, just like a true democratic system.

Also it must not be ignored that society is based on a work pyramid (in theory). A farmer is neccessary to produce food, a builder to build etc. When society improves, more business is added. Miners, smelterers, and industry begin. Then jobs which help society, like lawyers, doctors, etc. Administrative work (although in some societies this can come first), etc, etc, etc.
What if instead of currency, we began to trade in finished products? A laywer would have to equate a bunch of papers with the promise of steel when a steel worker can make the trade with the finished product. Who is the wealthier now?

If everybody was equal, then they'd all want to be CEOs and the President of the country and you would have anarchy as no one can decide who to lead and also starvation as no one would want to do the lousier jobs like farming.

A volunteer in a third world country helping those who have no clean water build wells vaccinating children, or Bill Gates.

Both may work as equally hard, and chose equally hard jobs, but the simple fact is that one pays more. That's it.[/B]

A person volunteers to work in the third world country because he wants to help people, no one does volunteer work to earn money because volunteer work usually pays nothing. So if they guy wanted to, he could work hard at a job that pays more.

Einstein may have been smarter in absolute terms, but capitalism pays on results, not on raw intelligence. I am not questioning Einstein's results, but he is no different from anyone else who goes into theoretical physics. If he can take his ideas and make them a success in the marketplace he will be rich, otherwise, he can have a good living thinking about the Universe. I note that Einstein didn't die hungry. He also most likely wasn't motivated by material gain the way Bill Gates is.

As far as the middle east goes, the Arabs do get the money from the Oil they sell. How else would Mercedes Benz stay in business? ;) If Iraq doesn't, it is due to UN Sanctions and relating to their past indescretions with tanks and missles.

The post above or near to mine said that the harder worker gets paid more and does better. I was merely pointing out the other factor in becoming rich, the job itself.

Um, YEAH. He wrote some code, managed a business, bought more code, hired more coders, kept on rolling, and soon he was a billionaire by his own efforts. It's called running a successful small business, and watching it grow.

Einstein didn't need money. He was a national treasure, who instantly had his every whim granted. Kind of like being president, but without as much danger of assassination.

Why wouldn't they? It's their land. Of course they are entitled to the profits that come from the oil underneath it.

Uh, helping them drill it, and getting rich. Your Point?

its simple. There is no incentive. Thats where Marx screwed up. He though ppl were generaly good. But nope, we are generaly lazy asses. Thats why communism fell in the earlier 90's late 80's.
