Community Patch - How To Install

Okay. That worked; I now see (5) More Luxuries and I am able to activate it.

Now I have a new (perhaps related) problem. I have activated components 1 through 5. But the last component (6a) Community Balance Patch – Compatibility Files (EUI) cannot be selected/activated: Mod is missing required dependencies.

More help, please.

If you've got them all installed, and they're appearing in your list, try this: close game, clear cache, then relaunch civ. Then try enabling them all.

Cleared the cache as you suggested. No joy. The check mark stays red and informs me that the Mod is missing required dependencies.

Not sure. Make sure your copy of civ is up to date, that EUI is in your DLC folder, and that you are checking them in the numerical order.

Hello!

Wasn't sure where to ask about this as the bug forum seems to be a closed thread.

I have used the auto installer and can successfully activate the mods and load a game.

however, it appears that all aspects of the patch EXCEPT the second one, which modifies the leader bonuses and tech tree etc. work with no issue. The game seems to simply ignore the second package even though it says it is activated and the rest of the mod works as far as i can tell. I have tried activating them one by one but this didnt seem to help.

If it matters I'm running it via steam, though i assume most are doing the same. This is weird as you'd think the whole thing would just not work, not just the central component.

Excuse me if this has been discussed previously. I read a few pages back but theres so many it would take forever to even see if this problem has ever arisen before.

Thanks!

Bug reports now pass through Github, not here. In any case, make sure you are hitting 'next' and actually loading the mods in the mods menu.

I encountered a bug and I solved it (although I'm not sure it can be repeated):

I did a fresh install of Civ V through Steam. Everything was deleted before, so no data in either the Steam App folder or the Docs\My Games folder. Then I immediately installed full CPP+EUI using the automatic installer. It installed the mod data to \Doc\My Games correctly, but EUI (the UI_bc1 folder) installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, which is not where I have Steam installed and not where some of my Steam apps are! Upon loading a game with CPP+EUI, of course, I'd get missing textures error, because EUI can't find them.

So I verified my game was installed correctly by starting a few games without mods. This worked fine. Now I delete all CPP+EUI data again (this is when I found out EUI's UI_bc1 data was in the wrong place. I retried using the automatic installer, expecting to manually move the UI_bc1 folder to the correct location. Not necessary! Now it was installed in the alternate Steam apps folder where Civ is correctly.

In conclusion: I believe this could be because I hadn't played any game before installing CPP. After having run a single game, the CPP auto installer knows where Civ is installed instead of guessing a possibly incorrect location. Could this be the cause? If you think so too, I recommend putting ‘Make sure you have started a game at least once before installing CPP.’ in the installation instruction in the first post, in the installation manual (PDF) and in the installer text.

I guess that this is because you never started the game, before you installed CPP. Steam will write all necessary information to the registry. It will then also contain the installation path to CIV that the setup.exe of CPP needs. So if you didn't statt CIV you will not have the path in the registry.

Guys, late game on huge maps and even sooner on extra-huge maps works very bad (especially after industrial era) and eventually crashes repeatedly. I have 8gb ram and 2gb vram on a Gtx770. They dont look maxed up but they are close to max. From your experience, it is my computer or the game with this mod comes to a point where enough is enough for it.

Sorry, extremely new to this and think I've jumped in the deep end.

I've installed, and have been surprised that the game has changed, despite me not having MODs selected. I'd assumed these patches worked like MODs and that I could choose to use them when I wanted, not have them on all the time. How do I uninstall them?

Also, is this what I should have installed:

I have a 780Ti with 3Gbs of Vram and 16Gbs of normal ram... it still chugs because it is mainly relying on your Vram. By the end of this month we should see a decent price dip on the 980Ti, just hang in there!

If you're just starting out, follow the instructions in the 'How to Install' thread.

Hello guys!

I just installed Civ 5 complete edition, played a bit and then installed Enhanced UI. After I did that, I downloaded Community patch installer and installed everything (Full with EUI).
My question - Is everything okay like that?

I did test it and EUI is working and I checked everything in "Mods" button. I saw some new stuff in gameplay but I just want to be 100% sure I did the correct way. Is it okay if I already had EUI installed and then just chose "Full with EUI" in installer?

Everything looks like it's okay, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks

No that's not ok. The EUI of CPP is altered to fit with some changes of CPP. I would delete the EUI in DLCs first and reinstall CPP again. Make sure you selected the EUI version then, in the installer of CPP.

Should I just delete everything now and make a clean install , just to be safe?

Edit - I will just make a complete clean install. I'll reply if something is wrong

Edit 2 - Okay, I just now realised I needed multiplayer modpack if I wanted to play it with my friends. So I downloaded that file and didn't use this installer, copy-pasted in dlc folder and it's now working properly I guess. I hope we won't get desyncs as someone mentioned in that thread. Is there anything I should watch out for in multiplayer while using this mod?

I keep seeing this around, but it needs to be made clear that the EUI that I include in the CPP is identical to bc1's release. I include it to make it easier to install. All EUI changes occur in the compatibility files, not EUI itself.

Ah ok I had this in mind, maybe this information is from before the compatibility mod..

Can i use Community Patch with CSD and Civ4diplo without the Balance patch ?

There is a version of Civ IV Diplo that only relies on the Community Patch, but I'm not sure if they've made a standalone for CSD yet.

Also, to the CPP team, your manual downloads stuff is outdated. Could you please update?

EDIT: Your auto-installer's broken as well. Please fix this.
