Community Patch - How To Install

So the last time I had the issue that the Civ 4 Diplo options weren't showing up, grabbing the CBP and deleting the LUA folder from it fixed the issue. I recently updated to the latest files, deleted the LUA folders, and the issue is back again. No idea what's causing it.

EDIT: Downloading the original Civ IV Diplo Features mod and copying its UI folder into the Community Patch's version of Civ IV diplo re-enabled sharing Maps and vassaling, but technology trading is still hidden.

EDIT THE SECOND: I'm an idiot, I had No Tech Trading ticked in the options, but everything else is still valid.

I'm using everything including More Luxuries, but the changes aren't showing up in my game. The only things that are different from what I can tell are that the luxuries are showing up, and for some reason the new national wonders are in the civilopedia. But none of the other balance or leader stuff has changed. Still have the old policy tree etc. I want to use this badly but have no idea what's up.

Does Civ 4 Diplomacy mod not work with just the CP? None of the regular features of the mod (tech trading, map trading, asking about opinions of other leaders, etc.) are showing up; though the transparent diplomacy option works.

Using the default C4DF, or the one on the CP page? The one on the CP page is just for CBP.

Ah, yeah, that fixes the issue of those features not showing, however, my question still stands, as the mod appears to be broken - Vassalage is enabled from the start (but does nothing) and all technologies show up in the trade menu, but trading them does not work (even for ones which I have researched).

Broken when used in what circumstance? Because as said, that file version is built to work with the CBP. If you don't have the CBP, its behaviour is unspecified.

If you want Civ 4 diplo features and -not- the CBP but you do want the CP, as it happens whoward has C4DF on his pick n mix, which agrees with the CP for obvious reasons. It requires the original C4DF, so you can set up the whole thing by getting Putmalk's C4DF, manually removing the dll file, enabling that tinkered mod, the CP, and whoward's version.

You can also leave out whoward's version from this process, Gazebo has stated this to work.

If you 'fixed' this by getting the CBP, you ... may have neglected its codependence with the CSD? C4DF+CSD is one mod under CBP, it's just distributed in two files for some reason (well, file organization reasons I guess).

New version (5-23) uploaded.

Files affected:

  • CP
  • CBP
  • CBP - EUI Compatibility
  • CBP - NoEUI Compatibility

With the new version I don't have the option to load a savegame from the menu.

As Morocco I see you moved the Kasbah back to Chivalry but did you change the build instructions also?

I used to be able to build on any desert tile. Now I can only build on some desert tiles and I'm not quite sure what the build instructions are.

In the attached game I build on some floodplain desert tiles but not others. Build next to each other as I used to be able but cannot on other adjacent tiles etc.

Could you clarify or is there a bug.

Thanks.

See attached.

I probably need to update the tooltip. As of the latest patch the kasbah can only be built adjacent to cities.

Under the circumstances that I indicated: the CP + Civ 4 Diplomacy, as downloaded from Putmalk's page. I'll try Whoward's thing - I had forgotten about it, as I'd imagined it was no longer necessary.

That is by design. Don't load a game from within the game! Only load from the main menu.

>By design

I cannot tell what your reasoning for this decision was (savescumming?), but SOME people reliant on the Community Patch (f. ex. for Exploration Continued Expanded) MAY find this rather annoying.

I can only speak for myself, as I have a habit of having seperate modded campaigns running at the same time, where each day I play a little on each of them.
And due to the update it has become one hell of a chore to
(1) exit to main menu; that means unloading all the mods, thanks Sid
(2) reloading that same mod configuration again to play another save

I only ask you to make this toggle-able, for myself and for fellow players with weak systems, because no one likes watching 3 episodes of Friends several times an evening waiting for their mod setup to load.

It isn't a save scum issue. It is an issue that you shouldn't reload custom dlls in game. It doesn't load correctly.

I'm interested in using the base patch, but I'd like to know if it's compatible with Steam achievements. I don't want to be ganked out of earning them just for using this patch, which looks very nice. Thanks in advance!

The moment you start a game from within the MOD submenu, good bye achievements.

Using the default C4DF, or the one on the CP page? The one on the CP page is just for CBP.

Good thing I saw this because according to the wording on the "how to install" page, there is no mention that CBP is required other than the CP and CSD. So now I'm confused...

Does the CSD download from this thread also require the CBP or will the CP be enough?

I would like to use the following:

-CP only
-CSD (download from this thread)
-C4DF (Whoward's version)

Do I have the right idea?

EDIT: Are there any of whoward's mods incorporated into the CP only? Just wondering since I will be using most of his pix n mix mods.
