Community Patch - How To Install

I'm having trouble getting the Community Patch to run, I have not tried using the other components.

When I click next from the Mods menu the game crashes after a delay.

I am using many mods alongside it, but I do not know what is causing the crash.

Is there anything in particular I should look for?

What is a dll mod, and what would it typically modify? I do not think that I am using another one, but I could be wrong.

I've been trying to get it to run with JFD's Piety mod.

Something in my list has also been conflicting with More Luxuries, in case that is relevant.

If you want to use the CP, you'll need to start with just enabling it, and then work your way forward until you find the crash. Tedious, but necessary. Also, make sure to post in the bug reports thread, not here.

Galgus maybe you want to post a list of your mods, so we can see if there is another dll mod or something else that's terribly incompatible? ;)

Guys, how to use only CP and EUI without the optional mods?

Best I came up is put CP on mod folder, put default EUI on DLC folder, delete yieldiconmanager xml and lua from CP folder. Is this the right way?

It works but sometimes my game crashes when I'm about to set up a game or restarting a newly setup game.

Yes, this is the right way!
The CTDs when generating a new map have already been reported in the bug report thread.
So as long as you don't experience any crashes in other situations, everything is fine! :goodjob:

edit: Do you remember your map settings when it crashed? Map, Size, Additional AI or CS above map's standard?

I see.

My map settings was standard size, continent type, difficulty prince, pace standard, and I picked English as civ. On advanced I check policy and promotion saving.

My mod was: CP, Quick Turns, No cheating AI, scout to explorer, ancient ruin choose promotion, starting scout.

All,

I'm returning to Civ 5 after quite an absence (and a disapointing experience with Civ BE) I've returned to Civ 5, and have been recommended the CBP and associated files (including EUI), but I appear to be having issues with the EUI. These are the steps I have taken (all per the CP instructions page):

1. Saved the following (unzipped) files into the MODS folder (all downloaded from the instructions page):
Community Patch (v9-9v2)
Community Balance Patch (v9-9v2)
City-State Diplomacy Mod (v9-9)
Civ 4 Diplomacy Features (6/19)
Barathor's More Luxuries
CBP - Compatibility Mod (EUI Version) (v9-9)

2. Saved the following (unzipped) files into the DLC folder:
EUI (CBP Version) (9/5)

3. Deleted the following folders:
LUA folder in the main Community Patch mod folder
LUA folder in the main Community Balance Patch mod folder

4. Enabled mods in Civ 5.

However, I don't believe the enchanced UI is working - specifcally, whenever I mouse over any building icons, I get the following:

assets\DLC\UI_bc1\Core\EUI_tooltips.lua:11
21:attempt to call field
'GetPovertyHappinessChangeBuilding'(a nil value)

Any ideas what's gone wrong?

Thanks,

Mark

There is a problem with the instructions .
It doesn't say anything about using CP + CBP + EUI . http://img.techpowerup.org/150913/Capture048.jpg
And just installing normally , CP then CBP deleting the lua folder in the CP , and using EUI(tried the one from here and the"original") will cause a bug where you cant enter the city screen , and the city banner doesn't show up.
I grabbed the compatibility file , deleted the dependencies in the .modinfo , and deleted the folders of the mods iam not using , and seems to be ok , just a quick look.

I following your instructions as closely as possible. I unzipped Community Patch, Community Balance Patch, CSD, C4DF and CBP-Compatibility (EUI Version) in:
~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS/
and deleted the LUA folder in /Community Patch (9-9v2)

I unzipped the EUI in:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization V/Civilization V.app/Contents/Home/Assets/DLC

However, when I launch the game and enter the "Mods" menu, I cannot activate any of the mods because it says either
"This version of the game is not compatible with the mod" (for Community Patch v. 66)
or
"Mod is missing required dependencies" for the rest, where I assume that the Community Patch is the dependency.

What am I doing wrong?

Just updated the mods the same way as usual... I noticed that in my mod list the Community Patch still says (9-6) in the description, and the CSD for CBPmod says (6-19) as if they're still the old versions, even though in my MOD folder, they're definitely the new versions, and I already deleted the older versions. Also I deleted my cache and moduserdata folders. Has the text which defines the descriptions for the mods just not been updated?

Yes, 9-9 and 9-9v2 show 9-6, CSD and C4DF 6-19 in the ingame description. As long as the folder of the mod itself shows the correct version, you are fine. :)

Thanks... just one more thing. I took a bit of a break so I missed a few new iterations of the mod. I've just started a new game and my scout got a promotion... I noticed he had the usual +1 vision, +25% defense etc. promotions.. but he also had the 'heal instantly for 50 health' promotion. I thought this was removed in the CBP? Did it get added again in a recent update? Or perhaps JFD added it in his exploration mod (since it's a scout). I haven't had the chance to check a warrior's upgrade yet.

EDIT - I can choose it on my warrior too... And oddly enough it shows up on his list of promotions if I choose it, even though it isn't exactly a promotion... Is something conflicting with it or was this intended to be put back in?

As far as I know, it shouldn't be there.
Currently I'm using CP + No InstaHeal (which was incorporated into CBP I think) and my scouts don't have this promotion available, so it's probably ExCE.
Still adding the PNM mod too is worth a try! Good luck!
