Community Patch - How To Install

OK,
I have all Official DLC's active.
I downloaded the Vox Populi (2-15) installer last night, ran the installer, took all defaults, and even though it complained that I already had a ...\MODS file folder, it was happy when I told it to install in it anyway.

I then fired up CivV checked my DLC's just to check, and no changes, selected Mods, and it errored out to os.

Any Help out there?

I now installed Vox Full Version using the installer chosing the "No EUI" option. Can someone tell me if I can install the Language Pack (german) using the no EUI option ? I dont like the EUI.

Have you tried this? Estebanium wrote a very good tutorial:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...-a-different-language-with-cbp-and-cp.539883/

Or does it only apply to the EUI version? It seems that your English is very good. If I were you would just switch CiV to English (you can do it somewhere in Steam game settings) and would not bother, but maybe it's just me.

Will have a look at it, thanks. I don´t care if English or German, it´s only because of a friend who barely speaks English :)

Just try it out. I haven't had a look at the non EUI version, so I guess that most changes are made to Lua or some additional text. My pack only provides German text so I guess that it will work with the non EUI version, too. Just only activate the modules of the Translation Pack that are available on the Vox Populist side. I mean just activate the German modules corresponding to the Vox Populi modules. If there is a module of the Translation Pack available that has no counterpart on the Vox Populi side, just leave it deactivated. Keep in mind that the Translation Pack represents a specific version of Vox Populi, so latest versions can differ and so some German text information can be outdated. I currently have not mich time to release a new translation.

Once again I'm here with an odd question. I need to get a text file of the replay of a completed game. I found a program which can do it, but that program only does it with saves which aren't modded, so it doesn't work with Vox Populi saves or replays. Can anyone help?

I know this has been asked before, but I can not locate the answer. Do we have to manually delete the old versions before installing the new versions?

I have been out of the community for a long time so I am not up to date.

Nevermid! I located my answer.

99% of the time, no. 1% of the time, yes. Just check for dupes in your MODS folder.

With the Global city working distance, how do I change the max distance from 5 to lets say 7 ?

You.. can't. It is hard coded in Civ to be 5 only. I heard you can only max out the city radius by applying it to wonders, policies or technologies. When I say max I mean only 5.

So, I played some time using the complete Vox populi, but without the UI.
Now I would like to play it in multiplayer.
Can someone drop me a link for the right modpack to use ?

Lynnes did a great job making a clean VP modpack here. Try it! Psst: I also do VP modpacks, but with EUI.

@nik: Holy crap, the download links in the thread you linked me installed 5 malware programs. Any other location for modpacks ?
The page where the modpacks are uploaded is an absolutely malware hell.

Damn, tons of viruses after using the link in the thread, think I have to reinstall my pc.

There used to be an online change log for this but it hasn't updated since December. Are there any other ways to see the change logs?

What? No! The modpack Lynnes had made is like 300 years old! The latest official is here:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/dlc-modpack-and-43-civ-version-repository.609278/

(it should be hosted at Mega and virus ad free)

EDIT: The above was not meant as a slight at Lynnes - he created this modpack long time ago and tehn moved on to Civ6. His modpack was very stable at its time - just no reason to play it now when you can use a much newer version

@vyyt: Thx for the link.
Regarding the install instructions:
Download & unpack.
Copy the included folder 'MP_MODSPACK' to
Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC

There is no such folder in the unrared file. The folder in unrared file is named VoxPopuli_14_12.
When copying this to the location told in instructions, no multiplayer shows up when starting a new game.

The fact that people are still going for the offending link is surprising. Maybe @Lynnes or a mod should edit it out. I'm pretty sure there's a Mega link to the older modpacks he made anyways.

Hey fanatics,

Apologies if this has been addressed before. I've tried my best searching through the thread, but this site's search tool could be better and with 120 pages I can't go through it myself. This is not an in-game bug, so I don't know if Github is the best place for it.

The closest I found was when Gazebo posted this a while back:
If you used the auto-installer, you need to double-check that EUI (bc_1 folder) ended up here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC

If this is not where Civ is installed on your PC, find that same folder on your install drive and move bc_1 there.

I'm trying to run the auto installer (2-27-1) right now, and I keep getting stopped with an "Error 5: Access is denied" when the installer is trying to create files in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC\UI_bc1\Art". As you can see the path is correct...

I've tried deleting everything in the MODS folder. I've double-checked I'm right-clicking on the installer to "Run as Administrator".

I did not have this problem earlier when I installed Vox Populi (2-15); however, I tried installing (2-15) again after deleting and ran into the same wall.

I tried manually deleting the UI_bc1 folder using the file explorer. Funny thing is, I was always stopped, informed I needed admin rights, but no dark-screen prompt ever came. (The prompt did appear, however, when I ran the auto installer). So I'm worried this is a PC problem in general. I tried a restart.

I'm going try a different install method.
