Community Patch - Modpack (Multiplayer Compatible)

None human players, because I just wanted to test it shortly. Maybe I have time in the next few weeks to try a game with human players.
I've never tested pitboss, and never played multiplayer without human players, so I'm not sure what would be causing the issues. I'd suggest if you want to play SP, to just do it regularly through the menu (the modpack allows you to play it through there as well as MP).

As for multiplayer, if you ever encounter one player not being able to move or a stalled turn (this usually happens when first loading into the game for my friends and I) just have the player that cannot move exit to main menu and then invite them back. This fixes the issue 99% of the time in my experience. If not, try to do a full reload or an autosave a turn back. Other than that, the problem could be with pitboss. I've only ever done hybrid sim turns, not pitboss.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any way to add custom/JFD civs to this for multiplayer?

Thanks in advance

You would need to create your own modpack to add any other mods in MP.

I was afraid of that. Problem is, I don't have Firetuner2 anywhere, I think my disc is corrupted.

There is a trick to make a non-dll mod multiplayer capable by adding the folder to the Expansion2 folder and add all the xml files into Expansion2.CIV5PKG between <Gameplay> and </Gameplay>.

Now I am aware that the MP_MODPACK doesn't work that way, and it bypasses those files. So I tried editing the MPModsPack.CIV5KPG file by adding the <Gameplay> </Gameplay> part with the XML's, but it doesn't seem to work. How does this load the mods from the mods folder? I tried searching in CIV5Units.xml, CIV5Units_Mongol.xml, etc etc, but I couln't find anything.

If this works then it would be much easier to simply add the few civs, or other simple lua mods to this wonderful beast. I could even write a small script for it like the JdH's Civ 5 MP Mod Manager Application.

I'm honestly not sure how the modpacks are made. There is usually a thread in here somewhere with the most recent modpack version, so I'd ask in there.

I have never tried the modpack version, but was told that you can use extra mods (via the mods menu) if you are playing a single player game. Kind of defeats the main purpose of the modpacks, but it still saves some time when launching / loading the game.

Not sure if you are playing SP or MP.

Hi, i have a question, i'm trying to play a hotseat game with my bro, and my problem is not beeing able to change the number of players when i create a map. That means we have to play with 8 players standard and 10 huge, which is far too much space between players... So, i got that custom advanced setup mod... Can i just load it up in mod screen and play with modpack vox populi? That would be this modpack+that mode? I read you need to do a merge, or something like that? Help pls

Is there somewhere i can find info if there is still anyone playing MP, or how i can join a MP game? And will turn waiting take too much time? I would really like to experience playing with human sometimes...

Hi, I'm a newb and I'm posting in this thread because it seems to be the only active one. I'm playing with the mod directly in my DLC folder so I can get steam achievements and avoid the annoying mod menu. I keep getting my unit command menu disappearing and then I'm never able to get it back. Any solutions? Thanks...

Hi, you have not stated how you installed the mod. Which version? Where did you download it? Does the game/mod work for a while until the command menu disappears? Have you tried the official non-DLC version with the autoinstaller form the install thread?

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/community-patch-how-to-install.528034/

Does it cause the same problem for you or is it happening only in the unofficial fake-DLC version?

Btw, there are tens of very active threads in the Vox Populi forum.

Sorry, I see now there are lots of active forums.

So I'm using the version that is found on the first post of this thread:

CPProject Full EUI 3/9
Same as above, but with the Enhanced User Interface included.

I installed the mod via the instructions, downloaded the file, and put it in /assests/dlc file. Is there a way to be more specific about which version I'm using? Again, please excuse my ignorance here...I don't even know what I don't know so to speak.

Yes, it generally works anywhere from 20-90 turns before crapping out. Sometimes when I come in from loading a gamesave it's broken and no amount of reloading or restarting steam seems to help. I was able to get through one 150 turn duel game once, otherwise it's failed 6-7 times.

I haven't tried the autoinstaller you linked. I will go ahead and try it. Does it disable steam achievements?

Again, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

No need to be sorry, I think this subforum can be very confusing for a newcomer at its current state :)

I think this thread should be unstickied or people who make the DLC modpacks should always post a link into this thread. Anyway, this should be the latest version of the DLC modpack:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/vox-populi-mp-modpack-14-12.607333/

As for debugging, sorry, I cannot help you much - I have not tried the DLC modpack myself and I prefer the game without EUI. But from what you are describing (it works for a while, then the UI disappears later on), it seems that you installed it right, if everything works. I vaguely remember that some mod was causing the unit UI disappear when I was trying out EUI, but that was right from the start, not mid-game. You can try asking in the above linked thread.

The autoinstaller is the safest way to go, but it disables achievements as all other non-fake-DLC mods (and of course you have to go through the mods menu every time).

Ok thanks. I tried the latest version of the Beta Modpacks last night and it seemed to work pretty well. Thanks.

Hello, total noob here.

We recently bought Civ 5 complete edition with a friend and started a multiplayer game 8 civs (2 humans, 2 AIs). It soon became apparent that the multiplayer AI is completely passive compared to the single player AI. I find this situation utterly ridiculous. So naturally here I am looking for mods...

Problem is I don't understand half the abbreviations used on these forums, I don't really know which mods are usable, which are not supported anymore and which change the game to make it unrecognizable.

As I understand it, most mods do not work with MP games so here goes:

1} We don't really care about modifying the gameplay of the game, we are perfectly happy with how Civ 5 plays. So we don't want gameplay modifications at all.

2} We want to find a mod that makes the AI competent AND is usable in multiplayer.

3} We already have a game underway (200 turns in) so it would be nice if the mod allows us to continue playing from that saved game and not start all over again if possible.

Now for the big one: Is THIS mod for us? Can I pick and choose only the AI improvements to use? If this is a pack of multiple mods mixed together I assume not. Can you point me to a mod that only makes the multiplayer AI better. Or even a mix of mods.

We would really like to play a the game as a multiplayer game but with the single player AI (or better).

thanks in advance.

Well this modpack changes the game completly, nothing simillar with original civ5 exept graphics. So if you haven't won immortal in vanilla - there is plenty of things for you to explore! However i'd say that this game is dozen time more interesting and replayable, every small decision you make really matters and there is A LOT of working strategies. And yes, it works in multiplayer!

Looks like Gazebo made a Community Patch ONLY (the AI improvements, no rule changes) version of the MP ModPack - see his post above yours.

I believe that Gazebo's modpack you mentioned is for the Community Patch PROJECT and not for the community patch only. Unless I'm missing something here, as I said I've only started learning about modding Civ 5 today... If there is a functional Community PATCH modpack I'd like to have a link please
