"How well" doesn't mean how fast can you careen around a city. It should be the ability to drive well with other drivers on the road. Anticipate THEIR needs as well as your own.

I suppose there should be a massive CFC car testing championship to figure this out. The Brits would make it interesting.

I'd say I'm average, but there's no option for that. heh.

How many Italians do we have on the forum?

Here are a few tips for those of you that suck:

1. On the highway the far left lane is for people wanting to go fast. If someone is behind you and no one is in front of you move out of their way so they can get by.

2. People in rotaries have the right of way. If you are in the rotary there is no reason whatsoever to stop unless you must to avoid a collision. People waiting at yield signs, enter the rotary when there are no cars coming to your left, no need to wait for the entire rotary to be empty to try to enter.

3. When following people at night, if the horizon of your headlights is above the trunk of person in front of you, you are blinding them with your headlights. Back off, there is no need to be that close, especially at night.

4. When it snows don't act like the world is gonna end. You will do alright driving 25-35 mph if you don't make sudden sharp turns or slam on your brakes. When rounding corners its acceptable and expected that you decelerate, but on straight-aways don't act like you are about to fall off a cliff. Driving 5 mph if f*******g ridiculous and will only piss anyone off behind you.

I always have more tips for moron drivers. But that's all I'll add for now.

Bingo!

Most people don't look far enough ahead or to the sides when they drive. They don't factor in that guy in the left turn lane with out his signal on.

You should certainly be aware of all vehicles on all sides of you at all times. That one A-Hole coming up from way behind going 95 in a Miata or the dumb grandma in the Olds that you anticipate merging into your lane without signaling.

 a few, but you've given me the idea to use the streets of Campania as the basis of our circuit. Besides, they could use the money and it doesn't seem they'd care if we wrecked up the place.

How could I possibly know how other OTers drive?

If the forum was half populated by women we could easily compare ourselves.

Unfortunately CFC is not, so this thread is useless.

Compared to other members on CFC how good a driver are you?

How the heck should I know how other CFC members drive? :crazyeye:

But against the US average, I can say I'm much better - I've done an awful lot of driving and have never had an accident, plus I pay attention, drive defensively, and anticipate people doing stupid things.

My driving is probably below average, but my above average survival rates and ability to get out of tickets more than makes up for it.

I think one of my biggest pet peeves is people not using the left lane for what it was designed for SPEEDING!!!

and because most of the roads around here are 2 lanes at best with long stretches of no passing zones I probably hate people that go less than the speed limit more than I hate every genocidal dictator combined.

I'm pretty good. I've not yet got a drivers liscence but that doesn't really stop me. I love driving anything on wheels really and being in anything that moves.

Most of you are probably better drivers than me though because I'm a beginner. You know all the rules and stuff.
But I think I could take at least some of you on the race track.

I picked slightly worse just to get out of the "80% thinks that they drive better than average". I'm good at getting a fast start on traffic lights though.. it's amazing how slowly people get moving, at least in here and i remember to use blink, which seems also be very hard.

I dislike pocket parking, i always tend to think my car is bigger than it actually is and i speed too much since i tend to lose my temper way too easy.

hehe.

I have a friend in Italy. Her car is REALLY REALLY small... and there is usually alot of places to park (she always goes somewhere remote where there is) yet it takes her like 10 minutes to park her lil car into a large pocket. It has to be perfect, leave enough room to the others, not touch the others (obviously) etc etc.

But I am quite the same really, I hate pocket parking and it's hard with an Audi A6 anyway - big car.

So how many of you can drive box trucks through Philly or small trailers through Chinatown NYC?

Sounds like a nightmare. One job i wouldn't want to do is to drive delivery truck, because i would suck at it. I guess i could learn it if i really had to but ... oh noes.

Compared to all you fools, who drive on the road, i drive well.

Everyone who lives near me knows when they hear me a comin' to get off the footpath!:D
