What is your favourite computer game??
I think this debating thread would be a nice distraction from the heavyli debated Iraq\USA\War threads...

Lately, it has been Freespace2.

I have always being a fan of the Space Sim genre, and Volition did a WONDERFUL job and created graphics that are amazing even today, several years after the release, a really great and original plot and a gameplay that sums the best aspects of X-Wing and Wing Commander series.

I came to know that Freespace2 didn't do well in sellings. I really can't imagine any reason why. The fan communities say it's because it lacked advertisement, but even so...

Well, I guess that sometimes people are simply unlucky.

Regards :).

Civ3 has too stuffy graphics. Civt 2 Test of Time could be considered the best game of civ. And, since civ is the best game of all time, then ToT is THE VERY BEST game of all time... ;)

I think we shouldn't vote for CIVs... considering which forum is this, there will be no contest at all.

What is your best non-CIV game?

Championship Manager

Best game i ever played seems to change weekly, :) , but for now my all time favorite game is Quake 3 because of how long i played it. (around 2 years) But my most recent favorite is definitely Grand Theft Auto 3.

I'm taking another spin with Jagged Alliance 2. What a classic. One of the finest games ever made.

Half-life.
It simply brings you in a new world where everything is getting destroyed..
Scientists you saved who where with you for a time suddenly gets killed by a bastar* alien...

Civ is best. Civ 3 is the best of the Civs. The other 4X games I can think of off-hand (Alpha Centauri, Master of Orion 1 & 2, Master of Magic and Colonization) were just as good in their time, but basically the same game...

X-Com: UFO Defense is different enough -- it's the 2nd best game ever made.

Axis & Allies is 3rd.

Medal of Honour: Allied Assault. It simply doesn't get any better.

Come on, no other Freespace pilot around?

just look at those beautiful graphics:

I guess I have to acknowledge what is the obvious truth... the sales of this great game were disastrous, and few people know it.

Sometimes, great things just don't get the deserved recognition.

Regards :).

I always wanted to try Freespace. But budget and time constraints prevented it.

Half-Life was a colossal game. One of the best. Although, I have to admit, after you went to the alien world and quit fighting the soldiers, it wasn't nearly as fun.

System Shock might have it beat, though. The graphics aren't too hot by today's standards, but what a freakin creepy game.

Commandos 2 is another work of art. Simply a beautiful game.

Championship Manager and Deus Ex are so far ahead, it's just unfair on the others. The soon to be released sequels will surely complete my life. :)

Nope. Spearhead is better.

But than BF1942 is better than both of those.

3. PTW after those two.
4. Quake 3 (only for online)
5. Any EA Sports game

EA sports, it's in the game

I cannot specify the best... but I list which I like most:

These (free) roguelike RPG's are what I perhaps value most highly:

Tales of Middle-Earth
Ancient Domains Of Mystery
Angband

I also do like much of following games:

- Civilization III :)
- Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
- Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
- Neverwinter Nights
- Master of Orion II

Very fun and challenging flash-games:

These Little Pigs
Reflections
ZooKeeper (Love it!) =)

I don't have a favorite game of all time, really. Some notable mentions have to be:

- Civ3, of course
- SimCity 4
- SimCity 3K (never played 2K)
- Age of Empires II
- Age of Mythology

Somewhere amoung that list is my favorite game. Leaning towards Civ though, if you go by sheer time spent towards playing, reading, and thinking about it. :D

I realy Dont have a favorite "favorite" Game, But here are some to menton

- Civ3 & PTW (Both tied)
- SimCity 4
- Microsoft Train Simulator
- The Sims
- Empire Earth (AOC)
- SimCity 3k

i dont like civ3 im afraid.

I adored the wing commander series. Freespace had the graphics but wc had the story!. How many nights i spend killingcats i hate to think.

as a student civ1 took up far too much of my time.

As a schoolgirl elite was my fave.

Other great games..civ2, pacman

Now i like SMAX, and the Final fantasy series, but with a husband and daughter dont play much
