Grand Prix Legends, the best car racing simulator, bar none... but also hard as all fook

I have played a lot of computer games over the years, but have always come back to Civ2! Wasteland and Panzer General are a close second and third. Most of the others didn't have the replayability to make the top of the list. (and won't run on Windows XP) :(

Right now I'm playing Medieval Total War after almost a year straight of civ. So far Civ has given me the most enjoyment next to a Mud I used to play which I don't really put in the same category as most computer games. So yeah Civ3 is my fav.

The best on computer:

-Civ2
-Civ3
-Railroad Tycoon 2 MP Platinum
-Unreal Tournament
-Axis and Allies Iron Blitz
-SimSafari

(those are the only one's I've actually stuck with, I also bought but hated Cossacks and Pharoah).

Console:

John Madden 2003.

Dont really have a favorite computer game besides civ anymore, since Im leaning more and more to console. I did like Age of empire II, and sometime later I might get SimCity4. And Im also finding myself gradually becoming excited about Rise of Nations...

Did you play Freespace2? The plot is just as good as any Wing Commander storyline, and even more original in many aspects (it has a really interesting and surprising ending, something very rare to find). Freespace1 is just a good game, but freespace2 kicks ass big time.

Don't get me wrong. I am a diehard fan of Wing Commander games, and I got the ENTIRE series (except privateer 2). I also have lost count of how many kittens i've dispatched. And despite I also enjoy the X-Wing games, I really tought I'd never find any game in the genre as good as WC.

Thankfully, Freespace2 prooved me wrong.

Now, after the disappointment I had with Chris Roberts and his Starlancer (just a regular game), I just hope that the project "Freelancer" will redeem him and generate a game that is worth his tradition.

I am a diehard Battletech fan. Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries currently holds my interest.

I discovered MW4 recently, and enjoyed quite a lot. I have bought both MW4 - Black Knight (I'm currently playing) and also MW4 - Mercenaries, that I just took a peek at.

My only problem with it is actually a serious one... See, my internet service does not provide a valid internet IP number to each user; I access internet from behind a remote firewall, and I can't change it. So, I cannot host multiplayer games, as other computers cannot directly find mine. Nonetheless, generally, I can join games hosted by others.

It's just that, so I can join, the internet service has to install some software that is usually provided by the game developer, that allows it to work. And, according to the tech support from my internet service, Microsoft has this policy of not granting that software (I can't imagine why, probably some obscure technical reason).

So, I can't multiplay in any microsoft game. Now, isn't it sweet? I simply cannot find out just how good I really am with my customized Mad Cat MKII.

Damn Bill Gates...

Regards :).

Well currently it is Morrowind and the expansion pack Tribunal.

I also love these games:

Deus Ex (sequel is coming soon!!:))

Ultima 6

Leisure Suit Larry 3 (I grew up on this and other Sierra games)

Roger Wilco 4 and 5

Nope i havent tried freespace 2
Main reason is my games computer at home is old, a p350 with 96mb of ram and a pretty lame 4mb graphics card.

I booted civ3 onto my husbands pc (much faster) but generally he doesnt like me putting games on there.

Im annoyed to hear starlancer is poor, i just paid 3.00 to buy that on ebay ;))

Oh well you live and learn.

Ahh, I loved that one too especially the first three releases (wing commander 2 was the best IMHO) - I still see red whenever I hear "Kilrathi" :)

I also loved Privateer, it was really fun to play, you had more freedom than in wc (kind of like elite)

the only mechwarrior I ever owned was MW2 - Mercenaries, I loved that too , choosing whicch mechs I want to use, etc...

X-Com was truly a superb game as well, I still hope that they'll make a remake of the original UFO Defese (ore Enemy Unknown)

Other games I spend weeks with:
Civ (of course)
Railroad Tycoon
Indiana Jones 3
Sim City
X-Wing
Master of Orion
Command & Conquer (the original one)
Dune 2
Kick off 2
Rainbow Islands ;)
NHL 94 - 2003
Oil Imperium

I'm sure there are many more, but I don't seem to remember any right know

PTW
Sim City 4
MAD thermonuclear warfare(at least the demo version)
Empire earth:The Art Of conquest
GTA3
GTA2
RA2

and tons more

I thought Iron Blitz had too many bugs. Was there a patch?
I like Civ2, though. Nevewr had the others.

Too bad, you missed an amazing game. And at this point, it’s unlikely that you will ever have the opportunity to play, as it’s now out of the stores (the copyrights were sold and the new owner doesn’t look interested in investing), and in nowhere to be found.

Of course that it’s possible that you find someone selling his copy, but due to the lack of advertising, I guess it was mostly real space sim fans that bought it, and I doubt that many space sim fans will sell their copies of the greatest game in their favorite genre in a while.

After all, I still got my copy of WC II.

Yeah, freespace2 is the greatest thing so far, but once that title belonged to WC II. I liked the WC I quite a lot, but it was WC II that turned me into a space sim freak.

I remembered when I installed the voice packs (it was the first pc game, as far as I remember, with voices in the starting movie and in middle game; certainly, the first space sim). To see the chat between the Kilrathi Emperor and Prince Thakkarth, right after the stealth fighters destroyed your carrier still amazes me:

“And what of the human pilot who has caused us so much trouble?”

“Those fools blame HIM for the lost of the Tiger’s Claw. He will fly a fighter again!”

“Good. Without him, they do not stand a chance against us. Soon, Earth itself will be in our grasp.”

Regards :).

Civ (all the incarnations)
Daggerfall (buggy but great)
Morrowind/Tribunal (the best RPG ever)
Caesar 3 (a classic)
Rune (a great hackfest)

Rune, Curt? As in Rune: Viking Warrior?

I have it for PS2 but stopped playing after the first hour, during which I watched 55 loading screens and advanced thru three caves without fighting anyone...

Civ2 is da best. Played it since 1996. But as a favourite non-civ game at the time must be “Close Combat – Invasion Normandy” and “BF1942”… Bujah!
Looking forward to Homeworld II from Relic… Hey they should make a “The Sims – Homieworld”, about the big bad hood…

I really like the Monkey Island series.

Of the current games, Baldur's Gate 2 and Civ 3.

Otherwise, I mostly favour old games: The Patrician (about the Hanse), Mad TV (does anyone remember that), Super Cars 2 (on the Amiga)...

PTW is the best
