Computer games that influenced you?

Two games that made me end in playing strategy games pretty much exclusively:

Historyline 1914-1918 ( from the makers of Battle Isle)

and of course, SSI's Panzer General

Heh, I recently ditched Ignus to make place for Modron. ^^
Ignus isn't all that useful after he's burned all your organs... And I can't say I loved getting into stupid fights with the nut. :)

Who cares??? After all no other character's in the gaming world that will attack it's own allies for no apparent reason....(at least not that I aware of). Now that's a character!!!

Modron's cute though, when it's set on fire

And, of course, this guy:

The C&C series really got me into the RTS genre, and eventually the TBS Genre as well.

And, My personal introduction to the Civ series:

God bless Emulation.

Ultima 7, Ultima Online, Warcraft I+II, Civilization, Diablo

I have fond memories of Beyond Dark Castle:

And especially of the original Alone in the Dark:

(I never really played the games myself, though - my sister and I would just enjoy watching our dad play them).

Settlers - Greatest game i ever played, though i had to figure what all the buildings did by myself because i had no manual (twas a copy)

Flight of the Amazon queen - I think thats what its called, it was one of those game where you combined random objects to attempt to overcome a problem, I always remember that talking gorilla that got in your way, I was sad when i convinced him he didnt exist. cant forget all those 'prisoners' the amazons kept.

Warcraft 2 - i believe this was the first Realtime strategy game i played and then bought some time later (thou it was for the Playstation)

Total Annihilation - The best real time Strategy game in my opinion, building Huge Armies and sending them to thier deatsh is always fun.

Shogun Total War - This game was and is cool, course RTW looks better and MTW is set in a recognisable area, but they left out some of the niceties like the throne room

Planescape:Torment, where I got to know one of the most insane characters in computer gaming, ever!!(It's my Avatar)

Since then, I got the urge to BURN!!!!

oh yes, how can i forgot about this 1. Very very deep game indeed and offered me another view into philosophy.

im so sorry to forget about this.

I played hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours of Age of Empires II (to the tune of 6hrs+ daily, and when given the opportunity played for 15hrs at a time)

I was darn good though (beat 6 of my friends vs me).

and a bit later:

hehehe... my sister and i used to play this game when we were real little (like 10-11)... with a bit of help from our dad. :D random i know..... (go larry!!!)

paperboy, california games, winter games, summer games, commando on the ol' c-64.

then graduated to king's quest and space quest, lemmings and civ.
then pretty much stuck with civ!!! oh tho i did play aces of the pacific and knights of the sky religiously as well. :D

The first game I ever really played was Age of Empires, strategy is still my preference.

They had Civ 2 on the public library computers and I loved it. They removed it (it didnt really notice as I was more intrested in the books) and a couple years after that my friend burned me a copy of it. I still have the disk. During the summer I got a second-hand copy of Test of Time from a friend, I didnt much care for it.

I bought Civ 3 with both ex packs from a catalog provided by my sister's school for 20 bucks in April. I remember playing through my first conquest scenario, the Pacific one. I was talking to my girlfriend whilst playing it too (She broke up with me a month or so after I got it for reasons unrelated to the game. Apprently she cant understand the benifits of a real boyfriend over an internet boyfriend :shakehead). I bought Civ 4 a few days after it came out.

Morrowind taught me to save before doing anything risky... in real life. I had the impulse to save before checking my calculator manual during a test, as it might be thought of as cheating.

Half Life 2 taught me to say "Civil Protection" whenever security forces are about.

The thread has gone very off-topic though, since my question was not which games you liked playing, but which- if any- really influenced your thought/imagination ;)
For example i liked playing battle isle a lot, but it didnt really influence my imagination much, unlike another world. In one way or another, ofcourse, everything which we dedicate a lot of time to in turn influences us, but ussually in more obscure ways.

Ohhhhh....

FF7 and FF9 win then.

My imaginatory system (how I imagine things) is almost completely based on FF7. I played that game 12 hours straight, once. I still believe I can cast Ultimas....

Hence the nickname.
