Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

Well when I tried moving the files out it gave me a bunch of errors when starting and then crashed.

try replacing them with blank audio files that have the same names and filetypes.

I'm getting system hangs on a fresh install of Windows 7, what are my options?

Thank you. :) I've ordered one online, hopefully it will help.

Here's another question: Why isn't there any text in these menus? (See the attached image below)

It's like this for any menu that appears by right-clicking. The icons are there, the links still work if you click on them.... but the text is blank?

I've done some bumping around on google but haven't found any relevant info.

I'm looking to buy a new PC for mostly gaming. Anyone have a recommendation that strikes a balance between cost and performance?

Check all your drivers are the best available ones is one thing you can try.
SO I've tried that and no dice. However I have noticed that the computer loves to freeze when left alone and when playing intensive settings, Civ V freezes a lot, Pirates not at all.

Not sure. But the next thing might be to try a new and more powerful video card.

Hmm, can you test that card on a spare computer?

My other computers have 300W PSUs
Have you checked your power supply? Can you add up all that you are running and make sure the wattage is high enough? And do you have a meter to see if it is working properly?

127 GPU
95 CPU
? ODD
? 7200rpm 2.5" HDD
? MB
? 4xRAM

My system should use under 300W TDP

Can someone recommend a light operating screen capture program that records as a video the display image? (Win XP)

EDIT: Found the appropriate thread, nevermind. :)

I'm not expert enough on this to say with certainty, but I don't think 300W is certain to cover it. I would have to do more research. Do you have a 500+W power supply you could swap in just to test out that possibility?

I don't have extra PSUs, my other computers are Dell Workstations

If you don't have the diagnostic equipment, or someone with a lot of experience with odd problems (and those guys around here have been a little scarce recently) then the way to solve intermittent problems is to change one piece at a time until everything works. But if you figure possibly 60 watts per meg of RAM, then I really don't think a 300 watt power supply is going to cut it. And since you are talking about an intermittent problem when the PC is using peaking power, this is the next place I would be looking.

I'm told that it's about 8 watts per 128MB. So a gig will be over 60 in full use. That's over 240watts for full use of 4GB. You didn't specify your Ram size, just said you had 4 RAM units.
