Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

I guess I'm well under that. I was wondering because I changed my setup so that the airflow past the box changed.

If you run a Core 2 Duo or a Phenom I/II you dont want to go above 75C. The CPU can likely handle almost 100C, but you will begin to damage it at about 75C.

@Aimee: read closer. 45C is probably the delta, not absolute temperature. my CPU at idle with the stock intel cooler ran at 46C.

What's a delta?

:dubious:

Now that you could have googled.

"define:delta"

Now, since I feel nice, Ill tell you: Delta is the difference operator. In this case, delta means the change or the difference between the idle CPU temperature and the load CPU temperature.

A delta of 45C is pretty damned bad though. My CPU has a delta of 11C

Oh hey, thats weird. Thats not the same as when I looked it up. But anyways, my point still stands.

Weird Google issue:

OK, so I'm looking some stuff up. I get several results from a certain website. I click on the links and get the j"Reported attack site!". But it's for a different domain. The funny thing is, I know this site is safe. So I copy and paste the URL under the description, and the page I was looking for comes up. This also happens on the website's internal Google search.

So, what exactly is going on here?

EDIT: I looked up "Google redirect" and got something about a virus. But this virus is also supposed to block tech sites, and I can access tech sites just fine. And it's only the one domain that's doing it.

ANOTHER EDIT: Maybe this? I don't quite understand the article, though.

Well my CPU is running in the low 40s when the room is warm. So i guess I'm well under the safe limit.

Check the domain using google's safebrowser diagnostic page:

http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=

Enter the domain name after ?site=. For example, if you were checking google it would end with ?site=google.com.

That page will give you a history of any malicious activity.

OK, I'll give an example of what I mean. If it doesn't work on your end I'll have to check out my computer.

I checked it using Safari, FF, and Chrome (I have a Mac, so don't have use IE) and all of them show the same error. For some reason the site is being redirected to a malicious site. Maybe the site has been hacked? I'm not sure, but until it works again, I'd stay away from it. I considered doing a route trace, but I'd rather not. Feel free to do it yourself if you're so inclined.

The odd thing is, my google toolbar is set up to block it. But yet when I copy and paste the URL in, nothing happens. It's only the google redirect.

Silly Firefox question:
I have all my downloads set to go to the Downloads folder (I'm very disorganized and more than once I've found installers in the Pictures folder). However, other than setting it to "Choose Folder" there a way to be able to rename the file before it starts downloading?

I googled it and found forum posts from people who didn't know about how to change it, and some unrelated addons.

EDIT: I also don't really like DownThemAll. I've tried it before.

On any file it should give you the download dialog box. That box gives you destination and filename. Change it there.

I have it set to automatically dump the downloads in the download folder, no dialog box. Because before I did that I often found things in the wrong place.

Then no, it will save it to downloads without asking you any questions.

I was looking up something and I found a post on a forum dating December 13, 2009. But it's only the 12th. :scared:
