Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread

Yes and yes. It still happens with another port, so it seems to be mouse's problem. It also randomly makes the "USB device (un)connected sounds, but does not necessarily freeze then.
Time to buy another mouse? :hmm:

EDIT: Well, it's becoming rampant.

Check drivers too. Maybe something went wonky.
Do any other USB devices do similar things in that specific USB port? Have you tried other USB ports?

Could it be a hardware issue or maybe something wrong with windows?
Yes and yes. If it always happens at the same point, it is more likely to be an issue with windows. Overheating and faulty RAM are hardware possibilities.

I have a corded, optical Logitech mouse,
I would initially suspect that either windows has become busy with some process lately, or your cord has become frayed internally.

Yeah, happened again just now after turning the computer on and first logging into windows, rebooted right away. Sending the error report, windows said it was due to a driver or hardware issue, but that doesn't make sense to me unless it's the hard drive hitting an error right at that spot.

Also, what mhz should pc 1333 RAM be running at? I thought it'd be 1333 but my RAM is only at 666mhz.

Not to alarm you but it can't hurt to do a backup. Did you try the program I sent? WhoCrashed. It'll take the crash dumps and tell you what happened.

If its DDR2, then thats correct. its showing the SDR speed which you double to get your effective speed.

I'd probably reseat the RAM and try again (check for excess dust while you're there). If no, swap the RAM sticks with each other and try again. You may also want or need to reinstall windows, which wouldn't be a bad next step.

I just bought a second monitor, and want to play civ on it, while i use msn & the web on the other.

but.. whenever I click on anything on the other monitor (be it a web browser, my desktop, a msn chat window), civ minimizes. How can I get it to stop doing that?

My primary monitor is a 24 inch samsung syncmaster T240 (the one i want civ running on), and my desktop extends onto a 20 inch viewsonic.

Any help?

edit: my video card is a geforce 8800gts 512

edit2: now it isn't even letting me move the mouse past the "civ screen boundary" (aka, the primary monitor) if i have civ maximized on it. ie. i can't move my cursor onto my second monitor anymore, unless i alt-tab out

edit3: running windows xp

Windowed mode if you can.

I dont think there is. Its the way DX works. When you click outside of its window, it loses focus. Since the game is maximized, losing focus means minimizing. Some may also lock the cursor into their area which requires the use of alt-tab.

just set it to the maximal window size you can. Its really not that bad.

I used to do triple screen flight simming, but I needed three computers. Actually, it was a good way to do it. ;)

I'm having a problem viewing CFC. I have Firefox, Adblock Plus, and NoScript. Up until a couple of days ago there were no problems, but Firefox and NoScript update on their own regularly. Now, I cannot click on smileys to add to a post nor can I click on the icons in the reply box for formatting or tags. Going through the menu options for NoScript I can't figure out if those are blocking me. I don't have the same problem on other forums. Ones using UBB, SMF, and PHP do not have a similar problem. I don't go to any other forum using vBulletin. Any suggestions?

Try disabling noscript.

I have Adobe Flash Player 10, and I was wondering why is it sometimes that a frame (like for a flash game) doesn't load at times. Why does it sometimes just show a black screen?

 Thanks. that settled it. Do you know what caused it?
its loading from cache and it doesnt realize that you unblocked it? its a good idea to ctrl-f5 when something isnt loading properly. ctrl-f5 forces firefox to reload the page from the server, not from cache.
