Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread

Cos your processor is running at 100%, it has melted....and formed two processors, and each one is trrying to run the process independently of the other

LOL! Not quite 100%, I'm running VirtualDub and for some reason or another it maxes out at about 62% (even tho' it's high-priority). Maybe its something to do with a dual-core.

If it's higher than usual, it will melt, and if it comes in contact with the rest of the MoBo, it will act as two processors, each running the process simultaneously.

No, mice are devices and thus wouldnt be listed as a program. Unless your mouse came with software, but that software running does not mean the mouse is.

Somebody is sending me some Petty DVDs. There's proper chapters, but no menus. Is there a way to add a menu to a pre-authored DVD?

Some people said to demux the audio/video streams and feed into an authoring program. However, I sometimes have trouble with the audio going out of sync with that. Any suggestions?

(P.S. In the past I've used DVDStyler, DVD Flick, and DVDAuthorGUI. I also have something called GUI for DVDAuthor/Muxman although I haven't tried it yet)

Some mice just suck :p

I was watching some mice in a pet store the other day when I was with mom. They were all trying to climb up the side of the glass cage  And on the wheel, two of them were going one way and a third was going the other, and the third mouse kept getting flipped to the top of the wheel.

Question: If you dropped a hard drive off a really really tall building (e.g. skyscraper), would that be enough to kill all the data? Let's also assume there's no people nearby to get injuries.

Another question: A while ago, two of my friends (well, actually enemies) went into my yahoo account "just to look around." If there's no damage done (except to my fat ego), is it still illegal? (I'm not sure how they got my password. Before you ask, it's not "tompetty")

I should think so, because it's an invasion of privacy. But I have no legal knowledge to back this up.

Depends on how they got the password. If you told it to them, then pretty much no. If they hacked you to get in, yes. If they guessed it, yes ( but then you're stupid for making a guessable password)

They claim I told them the password, but they have no proof to back it up.

Find a geeky friend then. Most can do just as good a job as the professionals, except for free ;)
There are some things in this world that I don't mind paying money for. :p

Cleaning your computer should be one of those things you mind. A can of compressed air will clean out 90% of the crap in it, while a 'professional' cleaning will probably get about 95%. Either way, its something you can do yourself for much cheaper. And it will take less time. Just get a can of compressed air and a microfiber cloth for the screen and off you go.

Okay, google:

Can of compressed air: $4.99
Cleaning Pad: $5.99
Total (not including tax): $10.98
Good for Several Cleanings

Professional Laptop Cleaning:: $60.00
Total (not including tax): $60.00
Good For One Cleaning

You sure you don't mind paying...?

(Note that I just picked the first "professional" cleaning service I could actually find a price for online. IMHO, the wording sounds a bit dodgy to me.)
