Computer Spec. Required

I don't see 2K locking themselves in just for PC. They'll do a token Mac release as usual.
But don't really need Microsoft's bribe money nor would Microsoft be that interested considering it's a natural exclusive to PCs. Yeah, Mac version will come out but it really is just to satisfy a smaller niche segment.

What we will likely see is a tie-in with either AMD or nVIDIA to promote a graphics featureset. With the 1000 series coming out I think nVidia will be hungry to sponsor a major tentpole game like Civ.

One question perhaps someone here can answer, Isnt windows 10 exclusive to 64 bit? The fact that Civ 6 is also for Windows 10 lends hope to the thought that Civ 6 will be 64 bit.

Not sure if my memory is right but I thought Win 10 was 64 bit only.

Again not sure so feel free to correct me.

Nope, my brother has 32-bit version of windows 10.

No, Win10 is still available in a 32bit and a 64bit version.

You get access to both if you buy or upgrade to Win10, but you can still install the 32bit version, or, even worse, if you upgrade a win7/8 32bit system to win10 it'll automatically install the 32bit version. You then need to completely re-install win10 to get the 64bit version.

oO and I was thinking about using the free upgrade! How do you 'reinstall' in 64 bits if you used the free upgrade , you have no bootable media ....

I'm not sure what to think of that article... Besides what Dale mentions, they are one of the few sites that don't actually mention their sources. Most mention that they had an interview with developers, designers or producers or took it from the press statement.

So the source is questionable... now realistically they probably will support DX12, but I they're smart enough to also support at least DX11.

They didn't do that for Civ5 either, although it was heavy on the DX11-promotion
Also Windows 95 isn't supported

Darn, and I was hoping to run Civ6 on my Windows 95 VM.

Not really, but I also don't plan to switch to Windows 10 anytime soon.

DX11 is guaranteed. Absolutely. They're not going to lock out a large part of the market to appeal to the hyper gamer crowd.

Win10 is pretty good in my opinion. A good successor to win 7.

I don't like the forceful nature of it. One of its updates completely breaks OS on my laptop. Without the ability to permanently block required updates, I had to revert back to Windows 7 and now avoid installing updates from 2015+, at least until free "offer" of Windows 10 ends.

Not a fan of Windows 10, TBH.

There's only one Windows Update that you need to uninstall / keep uninstalled. KB3035583. This removes the GWX application / service and prevents any Win10 popups that you don't want.

Though, the blame here is with your laptop vendor and their overly-restricted firmware setup. A similar thing happened on my work laptop (hence the above solution).

The free offer expires at the end of July I think (the 26th?), I recommend trying it again before that point just to see if your vendor has improved baseline support for Win10 on your hardware.

:lol::lol:

I'm assuming it will be 64bit exclusive and playable with a medium range PC - Higher res possible for high end machines! Which is absolutely fine and reasonable, IMO.

As far as I know, just disabling it isn't enough - as far as I know other upgrades include Windows 10 preloading. Don't want to try.

I'd blame both. Yes, Clevo don't provide long-term support for their laptops, on the other hand, it's quite populat basis of many laptops like Eurocom, etc. Microsoft should do better job of supporting hardware which is less than 5 years old in their OSes.

The free offer works only once. If you use your try, you need pay for the upgrade. The check appears only after you try installing, though, so even though I can't use free upgrade anymore, it will still be offered and files preloaded.

Just to confirm so Civ VI will support DX12 just like Civ V did dx 9 and 10/11?

Dx 12 offers the opportunity to off load some calculations that would otherwise tie up the CPU. Also you would get real tandem GPU use even on different models of video cards.

I really don't think they'll drop Windows 7/8 support, but XP could be ignored. This means DirectX 11 with possibility of having DirectX 9 mode if they think XP is still worth it.

DX12 has some improvements in the area, but DirectCompute works from DX10. And OpenCL is better alternative anyway.
