Another (minor) detail: Civ agression levels have been set at 'default'. :)
Welll.... after all those stinkin' Salmancan culture flips in GOTM31, my agression level has been set.... "higher"... :mischief:

Right now, I can't wait for the spoilers....
It's going to be a great discission on first C3C game of the month

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback about my Conquests post! And thanks for all the additional information posted - I did miss a few things :)

@krisk: That's right, there is no second core in Conquests. The Forbidden Palace increases the size of the core. It also reduces distance corruption in the part of the core containing the FP as long as that is not too far away from the capital.

I have never participated in the GOTM. Until now, that is. I downloaded the .SAV yesterday and started to play. I'm looking forward to see if I can post a decent score. BTW - I decided to do the "Open" class, as I saw that they do not give out better scores when you do the "difficult" (can't recall the class-name). Anyway, being my first GOTM, I thought that I would opt for the "normal" class.
There was one thing I noticed (I don't think this is a "spoiler" point, hopefully not), but I popped a goody hut and got a settler. However, that settler was immediatley (automatically) converted to a city. I never play Expansionist, so maybe this is a "base" feature? Or is it something they did to the GOTM?

Welcome to GOTM al_thor!

Popping a village is part of Conquests, not something added for GOTM. I think it is a fun addition - not as nice as getting a settler but almost always nicer than getting a tech.

One other little thing I noticed is when the last AI city is taken, all of their units (settlers included) disappear. I took the last city and was planning on converting the settler to a pair of slaves, but instead I got the AI destroyed message. The good news for the conquest victory people is no more settler in a boat to hunt down. I also noticed the tech pace is very slow.

EDIT: Just saw the other post about tech pace

Isn't that a throw back to Civ I days (or was it II) when a GH could pop an instant city (IIRC up to size 2).

Thanks, SirPleb. Yes, a Settler would have been better - the location could not have been much worse. Oh, well, maybe it will pay off in the long run.
Where do these "spoiler" threads reside? I'm about 80% through the first Age, and I would like to start reading - but I don't want to see anything that would affect my game.

First spoiler is posted around 5th of the month, and you probably won't be allowed to read it until you have at least completed the Ancient Age.

My problem though, is that I always have to play on my laptop, and my laptop has no CD player, and I cannot find a NO CD patch anywhere... Also I don't have the space on my laptop to copy the CD and emulate...

Question: Being a newbie at playing Games GOTM and played around with Conquests......which game play(level) as far as a new player goes , should I play ....Conquest-Game or Open Class-Game. I realize hat Predator-Game is for the player who has experience...thanks

Conquest class games are for the new or inexperienced player. That is where you should start. If you have a lot of experience on Civ/PTW but have not played Conquests, then I would recommend the Open class.

Welcome, Jughead! :)

The choice is entirely up to you: there are no restrictions to choosing your class, other than avoiding Conquest once you submit a game that ranks in the top-half of the results.

If you don't feel like taking the extra challenge of Predator, I'd say go Open -straight game.
Conquest Class has a little starting bonus and a small penalty on the final score -you may want to try it if you like some kind of encouragement.

Most of all, have fun!

EDIT: By the way, thanks from me too, SirPleb, for the very clear overview of the Conquests features
I never tried a full game with it, and I shouldn't really get involved in another one right now, but I am so tempted...

Thank you very much for the input fellow CIV players......I give it a go....( Conquest Game)....should be interesting and fun...thanks again.

Seems like you covered most of it SirPleb, very nice writeup. I'm going to dive into the CGOTM now, and I'm very glad it's regent - because my brain is still not c3c wired :)

Question 2..lol...Do I need to download any special Units or Artwork to playnthis COMT and if so where would i get them from..(links ect.) thanks

No. It's played with a standard Conquests v1.22f installation.

@Jughead

No, you don't need anything beside the savefile. You only need the 1.22Civ3Conquest patch, and I guess you probably have it allready.
Good luck.
