Constant Crashes

I hadn't played Civ for awhile... but with the new release coming out, I wanted to fire it up again. I am on an iMac with 16 GB ram and i7 with Radeon R9 4 gb ram... I am running a Beta of Mojave...

When I play, I get to the game screen and then my whole computer will just shut down. I don't get a crash... the whole system just goes black and is completely unresponsive. It is scary because I think that my computer is completely just burned out. Like something is fried.

I checked my system log, and there are all kinds of fun messages...

It is weird because I don't remember exactly what time I played, but I just left it off until this morning. So I don't know if it crashed twice... at 19:47 and then again at 20:35... but probably.

After a restart with no other applications running, I played and it worked okay. Then, with a browser open in the background, it crashed.

I then tried it with lower settings... lower resolution... shutting all the extras off... which shouldn't be necessary with my system... and it started, and I played a few turns, but then it crashed again.

I searched online... I see other people get crashes, but the black screen of death seems to be my problem. I wonder if something is wrong with my video card?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Any thought to installing Mojave instead of the beta? It was just updated to 10.14.2.

I have the latest beta. I just seems to be a memory bug. Last night... I tried three times, and it crashed and crashed. 4th time after an update and restart it played fine for a couple hours. Just sucks.

I have evidence that it is likely something to do with my video card. I opened up a gigapixel image, and I got the same crash as I was zooming in and out of the image. Something that really shouldn't be a problem for my system makes it crash.

Have you considered not running the beta Mojave system when you want to do something enjoyable that takes more than a few minutes ?
If not, why not take it up with Apple that you can't beta test Mojave and play Civ 6.
