Continental Flags

I must have misread one of your posts:

It isn't so hard to create a flag incorporating elements from three flags. A leaf, an eagle, some stars, it won't look that bad.

As for the "clove"... I'm sure you are kidding.

Again, I was just listing symbols that could be included. You pasting up a hideous flag does not prove the idea wrong, just shows your own creative faults.

I guess part French because of Quebec? Yes, I'm not so knowledgeable on flags, heh

Why are we even argueing this? The thread was what could be a flag, not what could not be one.

My 2 cents: it would give a headache.

That was the idea I had, except without the red/white/green stripes.

Although I hadn't thought of putting Quebec's flag on it, and was wondering what I could put in it. :crazyeye:

Yeah, I didn't know what to do with the fourth corner. But I was lurking the NHL thread and saw DeLorimier's avatar...

I tried putting three stripes with Mexico Green, Canadian Red, and American Blue in the corner, but it turned out terribly, so I just gave up.

I considered a flag for the Caribbean or Central America, but couldn't find one.

The first one isn't a flag of Europe, it's a flag of the EU. Many European countries are not part of the EU, such as Norway and Switzerland.

Actually, it is also a flag of the Council of Europe, which is an independent organization associating all European countries (except Belarus).

Hm, wouldn't the Carribean and Central America be consider 'Latin America' with South America? I think for North America the merging of flags would be acceptable considering it would be only 3 countries sharing it.

What is the logic behind places like Jamaica, Belize, the Cayman Islands and Dutch Anitlles, among others, being a called part of Latin America?

Well, Great Britain's flag is a combination of English, Scottish, and Irish flags...

Great Britain is a country, not a continent (no matter how much the Brits would like to think otherwise).

Anyway, this is the only real propsect for a true North American flag:

Uniting the Americas would be easy. There xould only be one flag:

Here's my attempt on South America

I don't know, but it's a fact. I don't recall ever hearing, "Latin America consists of South America, Central America and the Carribean---oh, except Jamaica, Belize, the Cayman Islands and Dutch Anitlles..."

My modification of pboily's flag.

I think it looks quite nice.

Yeah, except it only covers a few of the countries of North America. Now, if said countries ever formed a union, it would be great - but imagine how poor Belize feels! No one ever considers the feelings of Belize . . .

Screw Belize! ;)

That flag would really only work if it was some sort of NAFTA merger. If the Caribbean or Central America were involved it would have to be very different. Perhaps put Central American and the Carribean into a seperate union, or merged with South America.

I've never heard "Latin America consists of South America, Central America and the Carribean" either. Latin America refers to th countries in the Americas in which the predominant language is one of the latin derived languages (i.e spanish, portuguese...), it's not a geographical region.

Surely a country like Jamaica holds more ties to its Commonwealth brothers in the Caymans, Bermuda and Canada than it does with Chile.
