"Continuous Play" vs. 10-turn sessions

I think that if we go the 2 turns per day route, we shouldnt have one post of instructions per turn chat, instead post instructions for the week, which the offical can change as the week goes on.

I can't see setting a specific time schedule to play. It just isn't possible. Too many of us have RL responsibilities that will conflict; i.e. school (both primary and college), work, families, kids, etc. Note: I separated families and kids as not all of us have kids but still have families. Granted, come May my wife and I will have a baby daughter. Sorry, I'm just a little excited! :D

I've never played continuous play so I'm unsure about how it would affect this game. I need to read up on it.

Congrats on the expected blessed event.

I work a full time job, a part time job, go to school part time, just bought a house, have kids and grandkids, etc. And I would be better able to be a DP under continuous play than under the old system. Playing two turns takes less time than playing ten.

The continuous play method does not have to be played at a set time. We could model it after the MTDG. There each team has 24 hours to play the save. I suggested in another thread that once the save is played it cannot be played until 24 hours has elapsed but must be played within 36 hours. That gives the DP a twelve hour window to play which should accomodate any time zone. There was a proposal to order the DPs according to the vote totals they get in the election. All we'd have to do is post the order and let the DPs do their thing. If a DP doesn't play within his 12 hour window the next DP gets 12 hours. Any DPs who miss alot of turns should simply not be re-elected. We would need a different way to organize instructions - we wouldn't want a new instruction thread every day. But I'm sure we can come up with something. We build civilizations every day - surely we can build an instruction system. :mischief:

I still think once a day is too much... I see a risk of people getting lost and losing contact with what's going on. But I see the problems of the once a week method too...

Is there some sort of middle ground between the two?

hmmm... So it is hoped that by speeding it up the earlier interest can be recreated? But if the sessions were devolved because interest dropped then speeding it up won't neccessarily recreate that interest....

I think if we had a session everyday I would get lost... Every two days I could deal with, but everyday would just be too much for me to deal with, I think

If this idea is to survive, we kinda need someone to make it into an initiative. Or at least a straightforward poll on which one to do, followed by an initiative for the winner.
