Conversion of Stone Age mod events to C2C

Does AI will be also improved enought to use that events benefits?

If AI dont have benefits from events tell me about that please.

Events are just events there is no AI needed. Or do you mean the AI players? In which case these events are just like any other event any player may get them, some benefit and some don't.

So what guides the AI to make a selection when there are options given in an event?

@rightfuture have you turned on your module in the MLF and tested the cooked food event? Have you had a chance to look at the lightning strike event and added that?

I haven't touched the MLF or the tutorials, though I have installed the SVN correctly (not the mp one) and looked at the XML for the Stone Age Event file several times. XML is pretty easy to figure out for the most part. My programming ability is rusty but experienced(in general), I wouldn't say that I have any up to date coding tools (I use notepad++ for many things.), but I can follow logic and pick up things very quickly, and I have a lot (28+yrs) of regular experience troubleshooting bugs. I do mostly script editing, and have spent most of the last 4 years pursuing Microsoft Certifications and prepping to get my MBA in Entrepreneurship. I take full responsibility for not choosing to turn my attention to the tutorials, or looking at the code further before this point, so I might need a little help catching on to the context of the event code. After looking at the code, I am pretty sure that with a little of your help, and some troubleshooting, I should be able to get editing.

How are you accessing the files? I have had the ones DH linked for a few months. and what do I need to know about testing and syncing the files for experimentation?
Other than looking at them and casually playing around with editing and merging mod files I am not familiar with the folder organization of C2C yet. I can guess and figure some of this out in an hour or so, but a quick introduction would probably be more specific to our task and fill out my need to know. The rest I can pick up quickly on my own by doing my homework(tutorials) and asking the right questions around everything else. I am willing to bet that the code and and the knowledge is not much different than what I already know, just trying to get plugged and and eliminate wasted time. More tools, context, and gap filling.

Since you and SO are available and free. I am off today and probably have 25+ free hours over next 2 days, so this is the perfect time for me to lock it in and learn it. I've got 1 hr long errand that I have to get done once I've heard from y'all but I should have 8 hrs today or so to get it jump-started.

Looking at the file right now and the cooking event.

Modular XML is done by having a folder containing the modules' XML and a MLF file in the main Assets/Modules folder which is used to load (or not) the folder.

I put a folder called rightfuture on the SVN with one event I converted. With the module turned off in the MLF. Edit the MLF, find 'rightfuture' and change the 0 to 1 to load the XML.

The main compressed file I gave you is taken directly from Stone Age and will not work in C2C.

You need to look at the Events and EventTriggers and figure out which ones will work in C2C with a bit of work and put them into the corresponding files in your folder. :mischief: Fairly straight forward, almost no "real" programming skills needed - OK you need to think like a programmer some what.;)

Gotcha. ahh MLF file.
Understood about the file from the stone age mod being incompatible because of the differences.
We can port events to c2c and adjust it to be usable.

I will take a look at it. I am sure you are right about the editing. Thanks, I will post any questions that I can't figure out.
(I barely have anything ported to the new ssd.)

Alright, updated the svn, found the folder, making a copy. Before I start editing, I am going to quickly update myself on the in-outs of svn submissions.

Actually its really easy "committing" to the SVN, all you need to do is make your changes, then do and update to your SVN making sure someone else hasn't been added that might effect what your doing, then do a commit, your done. Now "before you commit also make sure it working correctly BEFORE you do so, otherwise you will mess with everyone else's SVN also.

Might as well try to figure out why I can't sync the mp folder now also.
1st get updated svn running.

Dont be like i used to and get things messed up with too many SVNs in the same area.

Do I really need a separate mp svn and svn folder?
I haven't much sharing of files on group projects. Most of the time I just sent files back and forth, haven't had to worry about syncing or editing versions that others might be in or editing at the same time. I understand the issues, not how it's handled here yet. Most of my programming has been solo, and delayed for a number of years lately... Since I have been focused on pursuing Microsoft Certifications (without any experience Active Directory is tough, especially if you make the mistake to take the test once to learn it, and try to take it again -get it right the 1st time!) and catching up on my business acumen for pursuing a MBA, I haven't coded complete projects for at least 4 years. (Lots of basic scripting though.) I find that since I am somewhat old school and focus on theory, I use different terminology and explain things more from my personal experience than from my years of computer science and electrical engineering (I also have a number of years of university level microbiology). 25 years of retail and severe health problems (which bounced me out of school) was also a bit of a distraction.
Mostly I just need to take the time to get updated, so I can plug in correctly.

Dont know anything about MP stuff sorry, you'd have to ask in the MP thread you guys are using for playing.

Yes, I think it will be a separate folder. Having problems getting the mp folder to sync correctly, got the mp game to work with manual (Direct) file updates.
I am double testing the reg svn to see if it boots and plays correctly, before I start messing with the folders caaarefully. :)
Hoping to get my basics issues worked out today so I can start right now!

That's ok, just starting with C2C and Civ mp.
With my health I haven't done much multi-player at all, even with good friends. I am making a few new ones around Dallas/San Antonio/and Louisiana where I'm trying to find local players, and have a co-worker who loved Civ IV who I'm trying to get into a regular discussion (we're both very busy at work) with about C2C. This is my first multi-player C2C game, though I did play Alpha Centauri regularly with a local friend back in Louisiana. I have since lived in Atlanta also and now am in Dallas. Only recently have I done more multi-player gaming. My old friends rekindled a pathfinder (rpg/D&D) game over the last 4 mths, and have suckered me into some LOL(League of Legends) which I admit is surprisingly addictive and engaging; but other than a couple games of diablo 3, and 400 hrs of skyrim playing and modding last year, C2C and Civ IV still captivate the majority of my casual attention.
After the last 6mths, I have to say that multi-player is way more fun than I could have believed. I'm glad that it is becoming more of regular thing with C2C. As you would probably suspect, even with all of my solitary pursuits, and ability to meet people, it is tough to find someone locally to play multi-player. I suspect that C2C will be quite excellent in mp.

I'm going to go take care of my errand now so I can get back here and get things done today. :)

Off topic - but potentially relevant for future conversation, about getting additional modding problem solving help.
I have a few really good programmers and connections in IT as friends(I have some interesting friends in RL) who could be resources. Most of these guys know C++ and XML.
(My last multi-player statement about multi-player just reminded me, one of the guys who I played Pathfinder with over the internet made an actual piece of software in Silverlight, that is practically commericial ready(functional), that functions as an online gametable. It is noteworthy that I have being trying to find time to engage him in looking further at C2C since his biggest dream is to design a strategy mmo like civ. He is a commercial programmer and could get drawn by the right conversation/problem solving question on my part. He wants to teach me silverlight for universal programming. Says he can probably do it in 15 minutes if I know XML and C.
-for those interested - www.moldycave.com/ - is his website. when it is actively up. He is actively and regularly using it with 20 different people.)
Now I'm going to take care of that errand and grab dinner so no more distractions.

You do know that Koshling lives in Texas right.

No I didn't. Thanks for letting me know he is nearby.

I like Koshling a lot, one of the first people I talked with here, on civfanatics that is. (I'm a big Babylon 5 fan -of old)
I live in North Dallas. I have friends and acquaintances spread through Texas, and Louisiana. Heck many places. At least once a year I end up in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, even Atlanta, Lafayette, and/or New Orleans. I tend to travel through Lafayette and to Atlanta often. My fiancee has family in Florida and Atlanta, and my family is spread out across the country. Always looking for people with similar interests. One of these days I plan on starting a business again, maybe even a game company - again. It would be nice to meet him someday, maybe even play if local. I like to travel. I would never bug him unless he wanted to meet.
(it is amazing what networking and shared focus can accomplish). :)

ps the programmer I just mentioned above lives in San Antonio
brb after errand.
