I could never understand why people allow themselves to be called DICK
I've often wondered the same thing. If your name is Richard, other common "short" versions exist, like Rick, Rich, or Ricky. Although I wouldn't like that last one, either.

I don't care that you dislike bible names, but saying Adolf is cool...no way. I don't care about you saying Josef (Stalin) cuz it's a far more common name, and Hirohito wasn't the big man behind everything. Mao....can't say anything about him.
Hey hey... my great-great-grandfather from Sweden was named Adolf

Names I like include (for males) Solomon, Justin, Benjamin, Thor, and Gregory; (for females) Audrey, Helen, Josephine, Emily (or Chaucer's Emilye, as in "Emilye the Shene" (sp.?)), Diana, Dominique, Shannon, Tess, Jasmine, and Rhiannon.
Names I DON'T like are generally "word" names like Destiny, Flower, Moon, Chastity, Judge, etc. Just not my thing, call me a traditionalist....
And I DO agree about Bertha, Hortense, etc.--a gal named that will probably end up anorexic in order to "prove" something. Which is too bad, but that's how it is....
