You can post nice statues from your home town.

How did they manage to get the pigeon to stay in place? Are there invisible wires? :p

There aren't any cool statues in this part of the US. But there are all sorts in NYC that blow yours away.

I think this is the only thing resembling a statue in the whole city, but it's a good one.

Holocaust Memorial.

In the movie "Ruthless People," this is where Danny DeVito was to hand over the ransom money. The payphones in that scene were props.

When I was growing up, downtown L.A. was a dump: flop houses, run-down businesses, etc. The Community Redevelopment Agency was formed. It'd condemn land and sell it to owners who'd want to build (because of generous tax breaks). Part of the deal was that the new owners had to provide public art.

The U.S. Army has only ever had one unit designated by religion. The Mormons were being persecuted everywhere they went. President Polk agreed to grant the sanctuary in the state of Utah on the condition they'd form the Mormon Battalion and send it to California to keep Santa Ana from retaking it during the Mexican war. He's a relief honoring them. It's where they built Fort Moore overlooking what was then downtown Los Angeles.

The oldest part of L.A. is Olvera Street, a one-block-long walkway, which begins here and stretches out behind me. Behind this statue is Pico House. After Pio Pico, the last Mexican Governor of California, was deposed, he built the most luxurious hotel in Los Angeles.

Those last seven statutes are just words saying "The Requested Image Is no longer hosted at www.4FreeImageHost.com"

You could surround them with a spoiler or just post the links.

I think it is truly fantastic timing, especially since the pigeon was likely just sitting on his hat!

I'm in Florence at the moment. But it's not my home town so I won't post any pictures.

Be sure to let us know if you spot one of a gator living in the sewer snatching someone from off the sidewalk.

In Seattle.

It's even better because it pisses off a lot of conservatives and is heralded as evidence of just how godless pinko commie people in Seattle proper are.

One of the most troublesome aspects of art is people see what they want to see irrespective of the artist's intent or without alternative ideas about what it represents or means. People without a fundamental appreciation of art should remove themselves from critiquing things they don't understand but here we are, people straight up offended there is a lenin statue in Fremont because they can only think of statues in one limited and to be honest, childish manner.

We have one too, and a "Lenin's park" too, and they piss of the right wingers also. Now when I looked for image, it seems this one has been vandalized:

It's the "World's peace" that was donated to Finland by Soviet Union. Although, it was right when they were collapsing, so it could be Russia too, but the style is good old SU.
