I got a fleet of 3 French Ship of the Lines, One Royal Sloop (aka SOTL Hunter), and The Baron's War Gallon. 500 men and 130000. Plus my wife is the beutiful daughter whose father is the (dutch) Governor of Port Royal. 1st ranked pirate whos got all famous pirates and all the treasures. I have only just startard finding my family,

Wow, 3 Ships of the Line??? I have only seen one in all my time playing Pirates!

I normally don't collect a fleet, instead I stick with one ship, usually a Sloop or maybe a Frigate. Occasionally though I will "aquire" a-few merchant vessels to to haul loot. Arrrr!

up until last week i had never seen any, but my brother found 2, on my new game i have caught 4 but one got sunk during the capture of 1.

Once you attain a higher rank all repairs in the latter port are free.:)
I drag along as many broken ships as i can while trying to maintain a cew of 115 or less. :king:
Simply drag the ship to the nearest port you are fighting for, speak to the shipwright to repair the ship for free...
Then
Sell all the cargo, return to the shipwright and sell the ship! :D

View it from a business sense ;) :goodjob:

Keeping your crew around 100 -115 will more than like depict the smiley face of the sailor icon which is very important to maintain.
Additionally, having a fleet can always subject you to a rouge Lt that desires to leave; when he departs with a ship ~ coin is also departed!

maybe, but each trip into any port costs you a week.
board - loot - sink may be better long term economics.

I played the original Pirate's PC game and the retirement age is much earlier than the latest Pirate's PC game.
Currently, i am over 50 and still active. :D

The original pirate's PC game would have forced me into retirement a long time ago...

Hehe, both games are extremely entertaining but most of all they are very enjoyable.

However, i do not disagree with your view, time sure does pass fast in the game...

Caesar III was also a very enjoyable PC game yet Pharoah was very boring; my opinion.
Actually, i lost interest in AOE (series), the game is too much into a strategy sense, requires a lot of reading which the above PC games are more linear.
Finally, i mean no disrespect or discredit toward AOE, it may be a little too time consuming for me etc...
Opps' im off on a tangent, sorry! ;)

Still never seen a SOTL.

I usually tool around in a war canoe, so, if I happen to be near a friendly port and I get a well-cargoed vessel, I usually keep it and sell the spoils. Later on in the game, when I've acquired a good bit of money, I usually add a Frigate or Brig of War so I can raise a crew that's good for sacking cities (my personal favorite pastime).

Are you doing anything in particular to get those SOL's? I've spent years attacking ports with huge bounties on my head and have still never even seen one of these ellusive ships.

Of the 4 remaining, 3 of them are French, the other is English. Looks to me like the French spawn SOTL a lot more often than other nations.

I usually only want one.
