In this game, Renata presented an excellent map in which players were made to cope with an isolated start that required them to decide on the relative merits of expanding to the main continent early with galleys (and the associated risks of sinking) or waiting until navigation / astronomy with the safer passage, but with the substantial delay in research.
Newcomer hendrikszoon showed the merits of taking risks, triggering a domination win in 310 AD, using suicide ship chaining to reach the other continent with Bezerks as early as 150 BC.
Dynamic was one of many who took the more cautious approach, waiting for astronomy / navigation and invading with knights. The more-mobile attack force meant that he was able to reach the domination limit only 20 turns after first landing on the other continent (compared with 30 for hendrikszoon).
klarius was also somewhat circumspect, waiting until 420 AD to attack the other continent, but completed a cavalry-enabled conquest victory and claiming bronze in 800AD.
Summary of Medal Winners:
hendrikszoon: Domination Victory in 310 AD, 11361 points.
Dynamic: Domination Victory in 510 AD, 11008 points.
klarius: Conquest Victory in 800 AD, 10443 points.
