Well, I suppose this requires an explanation:
Recently I looked more deeply in to the previous quick games, and I decided that this great idea had to be continued. I contacted ainwood who encouraged me to do this. But now on to...

The game
Civilization is Arabs, year is 110 AD. The game is based on COTM 12.

The tech level is at early middle ages and the FP has just been finished. The Arab empire is currently at war with the French and have been so for a while. As of yet no direct engagements has happened. Four Ansar warriors have been built so far and more is in production. However, very recently the city of Najran who controlled the only Arab iron source has decided it rather wants to side with the ottomans.

Result is, the Arabs are without iron, but Ansar warriors currently in production will finish though.
Allthough this is a bad event, help is on the way in the form of another iron supply that could be connected quickly. A warning though, a settler sent there will require escort as barbarians are lurking in the mountains.

The objective
The goal of this quick game is to conquer all of the main French cities in as few turns as possible. "Main french city" is defined as any city that is connected to Paris by roads in the beginning of the scenario.
The rules will be the standard rules we use in gotm plus one more rule: It isn't allowed to make a peace treaty with the French at any time. You can declare war or peace with other nations at any time, but it is not advisable to start any more wars.

Other info
This quick game requires C3C 1.22 to play

Latest submission date is July 15th
To submit your game go to the gotm submission page and submit it as C3C Bonus 12, choosing the retirement option as victory condition. Ignore the response with jason score it gives you afterwards.

Once you have finished/submitted the game head over to the spoiler thread to discuss the game. Even if you miss the submission date we would still like to hear your story.

Where should we write reports on this game? This thread or will there a reports thread opened?
Can we report at any time or will there be a date set?
Should we submit games? If yes, where too?

Thanks for the initiative, I like these short games.

Ronald

@Ronald
All good questions. I knew I missed something. I have updated the original post with answers to questions.
And there will be a spoiler thread opened soon.

@DaveMcW
I didn't design this scenario with that in mind, and it is not what I intended, but It's a bit too late to disallow it. However, I doubt you will be able to shave off any turns from your date by bringing in another civ to the war ;)

See, some of us settled to the SE and never had this problem in the first place ;)

I'm bored right now - I played COTM14 even quicker than this one (~9hrs!!), and GOTM44 is safely tucked away.

I have set up the GOTM Submission page to allow you to submit your saves for this game in the usual way. You will see it identified in the list of valid games as 'C3C BONUS 12'

It doesn't do any checking because the objective is non-trivial and your save will have to be checked manually. You should submit your save by selecting the "Retirement" option since it will be an incomplete game. The submission system will mindlessly return your Jason score, which is, of course, irrelevant!

Thanks, AlanH :) It will make this a lot easier for me.

Then this little game shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes :p

After having played it, maybe there should have been a "no army" rule? The 4 move ansar army is a bit unfair to those that didnt get them.

Good idea. I would be interested to see any detailed write-ups. The QSC has vastly improved my opening game planning, but now I'm aware that the top players run their conquests two or three times faster than I do, and I have absolutely no idea how they do this.

Now these French cities that we are 'conquering': do they have to actually exist at the end of the war? :mischief:

I don't expect it matters, except if they exist they'd better be speaking Arabic when you submit.

Thanks for your feedback. I will take it onto consideration in later games.

No :evil:

edit: crosspost

Just opened the save and would like to point out that according to the map that we currently have no cities are connected to Paris by roads. Since I realize this is incorrect I’m going to assume that all cities are connected except Rouen (located far to the north). I realize this is probably foolish of me to state but thought I would bring it to your attention.

BTW, thanks for the game. It's a lot easier to devote time to something that won't, or shouldn't, take very long. Thanks.

@Methos
Yes, connected to Paris by roads means according to their map, not ours. It means, as you say, all except Rouen. I just wanted to make sure that if they build another far-away city during the scenario it won't make any confusion as to whether it has to be taken or not.
