Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes expecting a baby; 'very excited'

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

NEW YORK (AP) - Let the couch-jumping begin: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting a baby.

Holmes's pregnancy was reported Wednesday by People magazine. The couple have been dating since April and became engaged in June. "Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited," Lee Anne DeVette, Cruise's spokeswoman, told People.

It would be Holmes's first child. Cruise has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

No further details were available. DeVette added that Holmes, 26, "has never felt better."

Cruise, 43, is now shooting Mission Impossible 3.

Yeah, I know this is just rediculous celebrity fodder, but I just had to ask: is there anyone out there, anywhere, who thinks that this is cute/sweet/nice, or even just "not-creepy"?! I thought this was a promotional set-up, and now thier having a baby??! Have they both lost thier minds?

I'm so thrilled. Even more thrilled that the Iran / Iraq insurrgency controversy was cut short on the news to tell me this.

No it isn't newsworthy, but what part of it is creepy (other than it involving Tom Cruise)?

Katie Homles is drop dead gorgeous, and I don't know what she's doing with Tom Cruise........ she should be with me :p

I guess I find the age difference a little creepy (26 and 43!).

I find the fact that Miss Holmes seems to dodge questions about how or under what circumstances they met a little creepy (I'm an authority on this, of course, having seen 2 interviews :mischief: )

I find Mr Cruise's behaviour of late...disturbing. Anyone who disagrees can take a gander at highlights from a recent TV appreance...

is that a little subliminal message tagged on the end there?

Tom isn't a very mature person, so I'm sure he'll do fine with a 26-year-old. ;)

Tom probably thinks his spawn will become the Scientology Jesus.

If you don't find this creepy, then go join the Church of Scientology and marry someone 17 years your younger and convert them to Scientology.

At least he isn't scared of looking ridiculous...

Seriously, leaving a girl like Nicole Kidman is just a stupid thing to do, on a not-biaised point of view. When you know that Scientology has probably something to do with it, you just find the guy stupid. :king:

I wish I had sex with Katie Holmes.

Also Scientology .

When I saw the thread title I assumed they had traded vials of blood. This is much creepier.

Yes it is all very sad. But they have a baby now so we should be happy about that.

Tom Cruise is obviously a cradle robber.

He also apparently has gotten Katie to believe in Scientology ... i.e. manipulated her and pressured her into buying into it ... it looks like Cruise ditched Nicole over that issue and so it's quite likely that Kate thought that were she not to convert that Cruise would ditch her too ... so she likes being with a famous and mesmerizing personality, being "swept off her feet" etc. All her friends say that something is wrong -- this has been reported. It's very sad.

Read about all the facts regarding her friends and stuff here:

Something is seriously wrong. I'll quote some snippets, but read the whole thing. I'll probably never watch a Cruise movie because it'll just break my heart.

The newly engaged Katie Holmes still has some explaining to do to her friends and family.

There were 16 days in April during which no one seems to know where she was...

Where was she during those 16 days?

Somewhere during that time, she decided to fire both her manager and agent, each of whom she had been with for years and who were devoted to her.

The manager, John Carrabino, also handles Renée Zellweger and is beloved by his clients.

Holmes also acquired a new best friend, Jessica Feshbach, the daughter of Joe Feshbach, a controversial Palo Alto, Calif., bond trader.

The Feshbach family, according to published documents, has donated millions to the Church of Scientology. Jessica's aunt even runs a Scientology center in Florida.

According to Richard Behar's now famous 1991 story in Time magazine about Scientology, the Feshbachs were the subject of congressional hearings in 1989...

There is some fear among Holmes' close circle that her instant romance with Cruise is not as organic as portrayed.

For one thing, Holmes was raised a strict Catholic. Also, gone from the picture are two close Holmes friends who used to be with her when she did publicity for a film.

One of these is Meghann Birie, a childhood friend who has suddenly disappeared from Holmes' world. Another, a local TV producer here in New York, was too afraid to discuss the situation with me.

We know that Cruise auditioned several actresses for this role before settling on Holmes. This column reported a story about Jennifer Garner. There have been published stories about Kate Bosworth, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba being approached.

A newer one involves Scarlett Johansson, who ran for her life when presented with a fait accompli dinner at the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood...

Curiously, since the Cruise-Holmes situation popped up, we have heard over and over again that Cruise was the young actress' idol when she was growing up.

That's certainly interesting because all of the publicity that used to run on Holmes — still found all over the Internet — lists another Tom as her favorite actor.

That would be Tom Hanks.

These are just some of the concerns that friends of Katie have. Google around and you'll get more info. It's scary and sad.

Well Kidmans starting to exceed her shelf-life. It was looking like he was married to his aunt. A big star like Cruise cant be expected to waste his time with an old lady:mischief:

Was she even 18 then? Could have been 17 or something.

BTW when they say Scarlett "ran for her life" she obviously didn't literally run out (though she could have I suppose once the coast was clear). What happened IIRC was she felt very uncomfortable and left as quickly as possible ... don't remember how exactly, but there were stories about it that are probably still on the web.

Tom Cruise just seems to have some kinda vampire thing going on: searching for a young wife to take part in bizarre quasi-religious ceremonies along with his circle of rich, wacked out friends.

It'll make a great made-for-TV-movie-of-the-week sometime in the not-to-distant future...

True. Well, she's 19 now. But when dealing with that sort of matchup, I don't think it really matters if the girl is 17 or 18 if the guy is over 40.:cringe:

Tom cruise is a good actor, but he is a nutcase off screen.
As for holmes, god damn she's sexy, why is she with this freak? maybe to get half his money in a hollywood divorce shortly after hollywood marriage.
